Shaklee Sponsor!

Hey friends, say hello to Pam!

Pam is Better After’s newest sponsor and is excited to spread the word about her company/business/lifestyle, Shaklee.

“What is Shaklee?” you may ask. I wondered the same thing!

Here’s what Pam has to say about it:

Shaklee is a 54+ year old company and is the #1 Natural Nutrition Company in the United States. You can have confidence in the fact that the products Always Work, are Always Safe and are Always Green. Use them and live a much healthier life. Promote them and make a much healthier income.
I have used the Shaklee products for 34 years and now work Shaklee as a business. The new compensation plan is the most powerful career-income opportunity in the industry.
I can’t imagine my life without Shaklee. Whether your interest is in the products or the business plan, I’d love to hear from you.”

So there you have it, dear readers! As the majority of us bloggers are mommies who are into watching our pennies and thinking green (saving the environment one dresser dragged out of the dumpster at a time!), I think Shaklee is definitely worth taking a closer look at. They have managed to not only survive but thrive in this poopy economy, so they are obviously doing something right.
Want more? Check out the informative video HERE.

Shaklee is also the force behind Project MAHMA, a coalition of families across North America who stay at home with their kids and earn income by helping others live healthier, better and more independent lives. Project MAHMA was formed as an opportunity for mothers to:

Have the very best for their family’s health, well-being and financial future, realize their personal potential, make a difference in the lives of others, do it all AND stay home with their kids.

What is Shaklee?
A Healthier Life for Everyone and a Better Life for Anyone™

I appreciate my sponsors so much, they are what keeps Better After running, so please take a moment to check it out!

And guess what? I appreciate you! Thanks so much for visiting Better After and taking the time to comment and email and all that stuff that makes my wee heart warm and fuzzy.
You are simply the best. Have a great weekend!

Sit Sit

For your viewing pleasure, I shall now present to you: Two Chairs! They were similar in shape and overall … uh … funkiness, but with a little tender loving care, they have now been transformed!
First Billie traded in her chair’s gold damask fabric, (which could actually be quite stylin’ if it wasn’t decomposing), for a light and lovely leaf print. Looks super cute next to her vintage suitcases, nonchalantly dripping in pearls. See more on her blog Billie Monster.

This chair also had a unique shape, but featured some upholstery that was so unoffensive it was offensive. Kacee remedied that right quick and has a chair bursting with personality to show for it! See her story on her blog Caleb and Kacee.

Thanks ladies!

Evolving Doors

Apparently, if you go to ReStore by Habitat for Humanity, you can find stacks and stacks of old cabinet doors. I say ‘apparently’ only because for some reason the ReStore nearest to me is about the grungiest, grossest establishment I’ve ever been in. That’s saying something, because it takes a lot to scare me off. So, if you are able to spend more than 10 seconds in your ReStore, or have access to any other old cabinet doors, here are a couple ideas for you!
First, Jana took this old door and made a cute little hook hanger! The knobs are what give it that extra touch, save your $$ and skip Anthropologie and hit Hobby Lobby first! Jana reports they have a great selection of knobs! See more on her blog Scatter Sunshine.

Karen from Never Enough Time couldn’t bear that these solid wood doors were destined for the landfill. So she whipped out her screwdriver and salvaged them from a home that was about to be torn down, and turned them into works of art with metallic foils, plaster and embossed designs. Thanks Karen!

Dinner at Deb’s

Better After reader Debbie said, “We bought this kitchen table when we first got married almost ten years ago. It was a country green tile top table. At the time I had no previous experience decorating a home of my own and honestly, gave it little thought.”

Ha! Been there! When we were first married, I thought my lava lamp and PVC pipe shelving unit counted as “decor.”

Ok, so Debbie’s table was a downer. She was so over the hunter green tile and orange “foak” but at the same time, she knew she had to stretch her budget with her husband finishing up grad school.

So with nothing more than some clearance tile, fresh stain, and a spiffy black paint job, she nudged her table into the current decade. Great job Debbie!

Tea for You

Time for tea! And time for this shabby tea cart to get a fresh look. One time I went to a “tea room” where all the waitresses were little old ladies in floor length white aprons, pushing around tea carts and scones and I kinda thought that would be the most awesome job. That is because I am a little old lady at heart. It’s true.

Check it out from Linda at A Vie Renouvele. Thanks Linda!
