7 In chairs/ottomans/seating

Once upon a time …

This before chair was rocking a … cheerful look. So much stuff is going on in that fabric I feel like it should have come with a big fat storybook for an ottoman or some such.

I see a homey little log cabin flanked by a tree which is growing some mauve-colored fruit, a pair of sheep, a bunch of chickens, a dog, a bucking horse, more chickens, a pond, a dead tree, still more chickens and … is that an evil polar bear lumbering over the hill, coming to destroy the whole happy scene?! Or is it the ghost of the original homesteader, coming to stake his claim from beyond the grave? What’s going on?! How does it end?!

Barbra from My Pocketbook and Me was probably tired of asking herself these questions, so she reupholstered the chair in a demure damask. Lovely! But now we will never know the rest of the Epic Fabric Saga. It’s probably better that we don’t.

5 In tables/dressers

Look at Me!

This redo comes from Chiara in Italy! Ciao lettori italiani! Se ti ha impressionato con la mia capacità di parlare in italiano? Non essere, devo tutto a google translator. Così li biasimo se questo non ha senso a tutti!

Anyway, it looks like some misguided sole had decided to “update” this antique dresser by adding on some cheapo white handles, the kind you might find on public bathroom stall. Not a good look, my friends.

Chiara figured if you’re going to do something, do it all the way baby! So she jazzed up the whole entire thing with silver leaf and accessorized with some hot pink frames. I love the funky silver surface contrasted with the dresser’s ladylike shape, but I’m still unsure about those handles …

And hey! Did you notice the old blog got a little freshening up? Nothing drastic, as I will probably have my leg header until I die (I love it so), but now I hope the layout is easier to read and navigate.

Click on over to see if you are subscribed in a reader! The fabulous Jayna Haws from Friend of a Friend is to thank for the new look. She does it all, buttons, backgrounds, blog overhauls, and she was so super nice and easy to work with too! Check her out here:

I’m a big kid now!

I was all set to be harsh on this before room, because it does look like a Russian orphanage, but then I learned that it used to be all pink and brown and cute. But then it was stripped down in preparation for a transformation into a big girl room!

That is one seriously sweet big girl room. I’m 29 and my big girl room isn’t anywhere near that lovely. Loads and loads of details to see over on Becky’s blog Tea Party.

Wheat to Neat!

I might have overlooked this armoire, not just because of the strange tribute to wheat on its mirrors, dated appearance and general raggedy-ness, but just because I don’t need another armoire. But dang, it’s not a bad price and it’s nice and sturdy. Hmmmm…

Maybe … it could be used in a child’s room! Yes! I am such a friggin genius! Not really. The brain behind this idea is not actually me, but none other than Jamielyn from I Heart Naptime. Well done Jamielyn!

Red Hot Foreva!

I can’t possibly imagine why Michelle from Paper Glue Etc. would want to makeover this set of lockers. The writings scrawled on its surface are nothing short of sheer poetry.

For instance, take a moment to ponder some of these thoughtful gems, like “US STANK ARENA!” and “CRACK STAFF!” Also, “Twilight!” And consider the sage advice to “Get Silly!” “Stay Fly,” and never forget “It’s all or nothing.”

Well, I actually like them much better in red. I just hope Michelle gave an extra scrub to the locker labeled “PANTIES.”
