Baby Bird

Laura got her hands on this dresser for free (NEVER happens to me, WHY!?) which makes up for the fact that it had mismatched plastic handles and was covered in stickers that required sanding after sanding.

She freehanded the branch and stenciled on the bird, then distressed it with whatever happened to be laying nearby, or at least that’s what it sounded like: steel wool, sandpaper and a screwdriver, plus a light coat of glaze. I think it turned out super cute! It will do great job at its current position: changing table for brand new baby!

Crossbar Hotel

Mary’s in-laws were a-coming into town and she figured they deserved better than this sad, empty room. Not much to see here other than a bed and a dresser. I’m pretty sure prisons are more lushly appointed.

So she added some paint and accessories and she had herself a glam getaway of a guestroom, lickety split! I’m sure the in-laws were appreciative. Nothing makes your guests feel more unwelcome than a room that screams “25 to life,” youknowwhatI’msayin? Loving the sparkly pillows and feather wreath above the bed! Check it out on her modestly-titled blog, My Humble Blog.

Sinking Feeling

Patience paid off for Julie when Craigslist finally delivered a listing for a seven-foot sideboard, the perfect size and sturdiness to handle what she had in mind.

And what did she have in mind? Sinks! She was thinking sinks. She added a travertine top and turned it into a one of a kind vanity. Total conversation piece, if you ever happen to have conversations with guests in your bathroom. Check it out on her blog Saltbox Treasures.

Color-rama

Are you feeling sluggish this Monday morning? I sure am, I spent the weekend hanging out with a sinus infection that made me feel like I had a bowling ball for a head. Ug.

So, here’s some visual caffiene to give us both a jolt. There’s floral, animal, polka dot and damask print happening up in here, all at the same time! It’s like a Red Bull for your eyes! Prepare yourself. See more from Connie on her website Connie Achurra.

Fa-la-la

If your Christmas budget is so stretched this year it could take advanced yoga, be of good cheer! You can still deck the halls for super cheap. Just think creatively like Michael from Inspired by Charm and check out some thriftstores for some holiday hand-me-downs to spruce up. Loving the white tree, so simple and chic!

And if you’re looking for gift ideas, might I suggest one of my most favorite pieces from Lisa Leonard. (Um, totally customizable, of course. You don’t have to order one with my family’s names, unless your family has the same names, or you are a weirdo and really, really, REALLY like us).

See it here.

Hutchette

You may have already heard that I have a mild phobia of knotty wood. Knotty wood looks like it has eyes that are watching me! It’s not like I can’t leave the house or anything, it just makes me uncomfortable. A phobiette, I like to call it.

So I am all for painting over those creepy knots, and even going the extra mile, covering them in print! Take that dark empty eyeballs of doom, you can’t scare me now! From Diane at In My Own Style. who just wanted to update this hutch and probably didn’t really need to know about me and my wood psychosis.
