Cheery Chandy

Katie from Matsutake has a fun, bright style, just like this chandelier!  Actually, the chandelier was neither fun nor stylish, but it certainly was bright.  And so shiny. Is YOUR light fixture outdated?  If you regularly use its reflection to check your teeth for lettuce without leaving the table, then yes.
Katie wasn’t down with that, so she flipped the arms around, painted it with, (you’ll never guess) an 87 cent bottle of yellow craft paint, and used doilies as shades! (Don’t worry, she took all proper precautions and the doilies are not a hazard at all).  It’s so lovely and ladylike now, it makes me want to have afternoon tea, and I don’t even drink tea.  Cheers!

Kitchenette-ette

Been wondering what do to with your changing table once Jr. is potty-trained?  Here’s a clever idea: kid kitchen!  Because you really can’t pass that thing off as a “bookcase” or “console table” no matter how hard you accessorize.
Doesn’t it make for the perfect play kitchen though?  A lot of love went into this one, the oven door even has a window for crying out loud! And I love that you can put magnets on the fridge!

Mood Music

Is it a crime to paint a piano?  Yes, but only if you happen to choose the color Poopy Sunset like whoever owned this piano before Danielle did.  Seriously, there’s like three different shades of brown happening there.  So weird.
Danielle lightened the mood with a bright white and toned it down with a dark glaze, and now they are making beautiful music together!  Check it out on her blog Danielle’s Spot.

Kitchentasmic

Be prepared to have your eyeballs blown away.  Ew, that was kind of gross.  Never mind, just be prepared for awesomeness, because it is coming your way via Dustin and Whitney’s fantasmic kitchen redo.
The before couldn’t have been more basic builder-grade if there was an actual builder still building in there.  The after is just stunning.  And so shiny! I love how the cabinets reach all the way to the ceiling now, the whole room seems twice as big!  Check out the process on their blog The Rooster and The Hen.

To the window, to the moon, and back.

To the windoooooow, to the walllll!  Red tile up in here ya’ll!  My apologies to Lil’ Jon (and all of you completely confused by this post title and everything I just wrote, hi Grandma!), but the point is this: Woah. That’s a lot of red, red tile.
But look my friends, LOOK!  Cast your eyes upon the after, isn’t it beautiful?  Every last detail is just perfect.  Except wait, is that wood flooring in the shower!? Oh no they di-‘nt!  Actually, no they didn’t, it’s more tile!  But like, way better looking tile this time around.  Check out the whole transformation on To the Moon and Back.

Urine-B-Gone

At first glance, it would appear that this chair has been heavily peed upon.  But upon second glance, I spy a stain somewhat in the shape of Louisiana, which leads me to believe that it isn’t really pee, because that is not humanly possible.  Or should I say pissable?
(Snort!  Sorry mom.)
Anyway, just forget all about the past and look instead to the glorious present, where this chair is not even a shade of its former self.  It’s beautiful and quirky and best of all, clean!  From Kayla at Confessions of a DIY-aholic.
