Throw Me a Bone

Sometimes I live in a bit of a bubble and manage to be completely unaware of many of the fabulous bloggers and blogs populating the blogosphere.  Michelle from Decor and the Dog is one of them. Why didn’t anyone tell me?  I feel like that one time I went to borrow something from my good friend who also happened to be my next door neighbor and discovered she was having a party without me. AWKward. So I declare today Please Tell Lindsey About Your Favorite Blogs Day.
And also, let’s admire Michelle’s awesome bathroom transformation while all of you pretend this is your first time seeing it too.  Sound good?

More like Mr. GREATwill!

Surely you already know of the amazingness that is Mr. Goodwill Hunting, no?  Not only does Rashon make digging around the thrift store look outrageously elegant, he also oozes so much style that I really should find a better word to describe it than ‘oozes.’
Take this chair makeover for example.  He was inspired by a the Tom Ford photo below and well, it’s pretty much spot-on perfection.  Did I mention that he simply PAINTED the chair black?  Spent something like $10 on this redo.  Uhhh-mazing.  Full chair-painting tutorial on his blog HERE.

I know, right?!

Feeling Frosty

Jana bought this coffee table from her extremely hip neighbor who was redecorating.  What, you don’t believe me?  OK, you’re right, she got it for free from her roomate’s grandma who was moving into an assisted living home.  While she was grateful for Grandma’s generosity, she slowly began to hate that ugly table.
But she decided there was a little hope left, and once the swirly plastic doors were removed, things started looking better.  With a coat of Horseradish and an extra special touch: frosted glass door inserts, it’s a table to be proud of!  Thanks Jana!

Child’s Play

Do you have a young’un on your Christmas list and feel a little stumped as to what on earth to get them?  Well, step away from the Zoobles and Squinkies and Beyblades and Zhu-Zhus (uh, are we living in a Dr. Seuss book and no one told me?!) and step into a thrift store instead, where hopefully you can find a gem like this!
Better After reader Malinda worked hard getting through the layers and layers of paint and whathaveyou to restore this old desk, and now it looks even better than new!  A total classic, no batteries needed.  I think any kid would love this, and it’s a also great place to store all those robotic hamsters!

I’m dreaming of a white … kitchen!

If there is such thing as a gorgeous and spacious cave, then this was it.  Sita had a beautiful kitchen, but the dark walnut floors paired with the knotty alder cabinets made even the sunniest days feel gloomy.  Like a brooding supermodel – lovely to look at but not much fun to spend time with.  I would know, I hang out with supermodels all the time.  (That’s not actually true).  But I’ll tell you what is true, this kitchen looks super amazing now!  See more on Sita’s blog The Family Room Design Studio.

Black & Decker Giveaway! (GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED)

(now closed)
Hey, hey, it’s a giveaway today!  The folks at Black and Decker are offering you a chance to win a product that I think is pretty cool, the RapidRoller!

They were nice enough to send me a RapidRoller to review, and guess who had great intentions to repaint the living room so she could offer up an honest opinion and then got steamrolled by the holidays and put it off until today?  This girl.

But I just couldn’t rave about a product I had never even tried; that wouldn’t be cool.  So I rallied and repainted the nasty wall in my garage today instead, just so I could tell you how the RapidRoller works.  Prepare yourself for a very compelling picture of my wall:

It’s gross, I know.
So, after putting together the RapidRoller, it looked something like this:

It works by drawing a nice reserve of paint up into the long handle through a plunger that fits over a standard paint can lid.  You are left with a roller chock full o’ paint, and no need for drippy paint trays ever again!  EVER AGAIN!

Once I figured out the mechanics of the whole thing, I was in love.  It’s clean, it’s easy, and best of all, it’s fast!  You just click the trigger when you need more paint, there’s no stopping to refill your roller every few minutes like with a regular roller. And the paint comes out perfectly consistent each time, which was always a huge annoyance for me when using a paint tray.

(You like my pile of busted up Christmas decorations back there?  That’s what happens when you marry a man who doesn’t think it’s important to find a stud when hanging shelves.  I’m not bitter.)

Anyway, the RapidRoller is also great for getting your minions to do your work for you kids!

He actually loved this and whined when I took it away.

Here is the wall, literally 5 minutes later:

Much better!  And so easy.  I wish I would have tried it out sooner, I could have had my living room painted in no time!

Clean up was a bit of a job, it took about 15 minutes since you have to take apart and wash everything, but it really wasn’t too bad.

So, in conclusion, I highly recommend the RapidRoller!  And you could win one today!  (or actually on Monday, when I choose a random winner.)
