Remember tole painting? I do. My mom was great at it, which is a shame, because it’s not a skill one can really put to good use right now.  Maybe it will come back around, like macrame!  Is macrame hip again?  I have no idea.  I just googled “macrame hip” and the first thing that pulled up was a video for how to make a “Macrame Hip Scarf” which, turns out, is just a scarf for your hips.  Weird.  Actually, I’m making that up, the video was loading way too slow, so I didn’t even watch it.  So who really knows.

Anyway, if it ever DOES come back in style, Gena is in luck because her hutch is secretly tole painted to the max underneath the cute new fabric she added on the panels.  She just couldn’t bear to paint over her mom’s artwork.  But the hunter green had to go, as well as the boring old knobs, and now it’s got an entirely new look, while being secretly sentimental at the same time. Awww, sweet.

And prolific makeover-er Jesse at  knew his hutch was not going to cut it in it’s before state.  It was reading too much “Old Mother Hubbard,” and not enough “Color-Loving Fun Guy!”  Nothing a fresh coat of paint, some bright fabric lining and a splurge on some cobalt glass for the cabinet doors couldn’t cure.
