Well, hold onto your girdles, because this is not your daughter’s ballerina. This lovely lady parading her way across Jenny’s dresser is of the vintage variety, and I think she is stunning!

What if I told you you should dismantle your hall closet in order beautify your entryway? You might say, “But I need the storage!” And I would say, “Storage is overrated!” And you might say, “Where would I hang my coats?” And I would say, “Coats are for wusses!”
But Cami would calm us both down and say “Look here. You can have both. A beautiful entryway full of storage and coathangers, and benches and flowers and peace and love and light.” And she would show us the way, and then we would all cry happy tears and hug each other and agree.

I love these chairs so much from Marianne at French Happy Nest that if I had found them first, I would have brought them home immediately, made them over exactly the way she did here, even though I don’t even have a place for them, but I could always replace a couple chairs at the kitchen table with them, even though they look like they might not fit at my table, in that case, who needs a table? AmIrightoramIright?
We did it! And by we I mean ‘I,’ and by it, I mean ‘nothing.’ That’s right, I did nothing for April Fool’s day. Sorry to be so lame, but sheesh, it seems like we just had Easter yesterday. Oh wait, we did. I need at least two regular days in between special days. My feeble brain just can’t handle it. Bummer, because I love April Fool’s day!
My favorite was one time I put those little firecracker poppers under the toilet seat, and waited for my husband to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, (he’s a sitter) and when he sat down, the poppers exploded and he thought he had broken the toilet off the wall, and he freaked out and tore the towel rack off the wall trying to save himself. Ha! Hahahaha! And one other time I printed up an official looking tarantula infestation warning from our HOA and taped it to the neighbor’s doors, telling them they had to evacuate by 11 pm that night. That was a good one.
Anyway, tell me your best pranks! I’d love to hear them. And no joke here, this nightstand makeover from Barb is outstanding. It was such a plain little piece before, but she dressed it up with a cerusing technique, new hardware and a new door, and now it steals the show. Check it all out on her blog Turtles and Tails.
Hey guess what? You’re getting a before and after from ME today! I know, I know, pigs flying and whatnots. Well, if you follow me in Instagram (betterafterlnz) you may have seen the $14.99 Goodwill table I scored a few weeks (ok months) ago.
Well, it sat in my garage forever until the kind folks at Annie Sloan Unfolded offered me a chance to try out their Chalk Paint® decorative paint, in my choice of colors. Exciting! Though I was a Chalk Paint® virgin, I’ve seen duck egg blue successfully used in bloglandia hundreds of times, and thought it might look nice with my gray walls, so I decided to give it a go.
I sanded and stained the the tabletop nice and smooth, but wasn’t about to spend forever on those legs, which were coated in some sort of neglected waxy lacquer-like substance. Luckily, the premise of this paint is that you can skip the sanding and priming steps and get straight to it.

So, FYI, Easter is on Sunday. THIS Sunday. Did it sneak up on you too? It’s like a month ahead of schedule this year! Sheesh. I’m still recovering from St. Patrick’s Day. Ha ha, not really. Our St. Patrick’s Day celebration consisted of wishing each other a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Although, I did get a bit of hate mail for my ‘unenthusiastic’ feelings toward the holiday. So that was fun.
But no one can accuse me of being an Easter scrooge! Easter YEAH! Easter HEY! Easter WOO! Here come some candy-colored makeovers to celebrate the season of rebirth!
Kat at Katch of the Day made over this dresser with the great shade of robin’s egg blue, or Cadbury egg blue, as I like to think of it. Can you believe she found this perfect condition vintage Basset dove-tailed drawer dresser on the curb? The CURB!
And not only does this coral ombre dresser makeover remind me of a big bowl of jelly beans, yumz, Sarah at Funcycled also gives the full tutorial on how to paint ombre. Hint: Start with drawer number four.
Better After reader Laurena found this little hutch on Kijiji, and painted it yellow. Hold on a second, it’s not yellow! That’s because she hated that horrible yellow and it killed her painting mojo for a while. Then one day, when her mojo had recovered, she started mixing a few paints together, landed on this beautiful blue, and it was happily ever after from there.
OK, this dresser already looked pretty darn good. And all the cute accessories certainly didn’t hurt. (Note to self: start decorating with pinwheels immediately). But Jenna wanted more. Not a lot more. Just a hint of mint. A sheen of green. A shade of jade. I can do this all day. A gauge of sage. A deal of teal. A degree of pea. Ok, it’s getting weird.
