I’ve just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday, before we’ve learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn’t matter in the slightest.
Can you name that movie?
But before I give it away, let’s keep talking about tests and homework and such because I have a colorful homework loft for you to enjoy first.
Before, it was like a plastic skeleton. Good bones but no personality. (Except I have a friend has a bunch of plastic skeletons that she hauls out for Halloween, and they seem to have a ton of personality. She usually buckles a few in the seats of her car and just drives around. She’s a scream).
ANYWAY! Homework loft. That’s what we had here. A nice space that needed some oomph.
Veronica was called in to oomphify it, and she delivered a cheerful makeover that brightened it up in a big way. The accessories are really what brings it to life, and the teal paint on the bookcase backs shows them off perfectly. She even designed the fabric for the window treatment herself. Doesn’t it look like a happy place to study? I feel my brain getting bigger just looking at it.
You can read more about it on Veronica’s blog The Naked Decorator and also learn why she calls herself that … oooOOOoooh!
PS: did you guess the movie quote? The title of this post should give you a hint …
(Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)

Gene Wilder is the best! Just watched Young Frankenstein (that’s Frahkensteen) for about the 100th time over the weekend. Good stuff!

February 23, 2016 at 1:09 PMI would get so much done if I had this as my home office space!

February 23, 2016 at 5:42 PMI like this space, but fun touches aside, the real change is the desk top. The number of computers went from three (maybe four – I don’t know what the black box is) to two. That change alone is enough to make a big difference in a space so limited. We should all remember that, even without fun blinds or new poufs, decluttering and organizing a space goes a long way toward the “after” we want.

February 23, 2016 at 6:06 PMSomebody ‘splain the clocks to me. They’re not showing different time zones. Not the first time I’ve seen that.
Lindsey @ Better After
February 24, 2016 at 9:51 AMVanessa said that they are supposed to show different time zones, she had ordered plaques to go with each clock, but the plaques hadn’t arrived yet. So they are probably just waiting to be set to the right times once the plaques arrive!

February 24, 2016 at 5:26 PMI love you, Lindsey, but you TOTALLY got it wrong. It’s from “Willy Wonka,” not “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” (Just so you know, I’m not being THAT girl … I’m taking this golden opportunity to use this knowledge I have gained from my 5-year-old watching that movie about 4,000 times in his young life and subsequently re-enacting it at every moment, even going so far as to wear his Halloween costume — because yes, he was Willy Wonka for Halloween when he was 4 — whilst sitting in the dry bathtub with his little sister singing “World of Pure Imagination” before pretending to row her on a terrifying paddle boat ride. So yeah, just let me have this moment of making all this Willy Wonka madness in my life become useful for a sec here. Oh, and I WISH I could post a picture of my son in his costume here, because according to his exacting specifications the costume had to be just so, and you’d better believe it was and he looked AMAZING.)

February 24, 2016 at 8:22 PMAhahaha, you’re right! I knew it was one or the other. Your son sounds HILARIOUS! I really need to see this costume. I can’t believe the scary boat-ride scene didn’t scar him for life! My fourteen-year-old was just talking about it the other day, how it still freaks him out!
