This before kitchen was like that perfectly nice guy you dated in college. He did everything right. He checked all the boxes. It looked like a perfect match to everyone else. But he just didn’t do it for you. Whenever you were together, you had that nagging feeling … “Something is not quite right here.”
“What are you talking about?!” your friends and family would demand. “Can’t you see he’s perfect?”
“He’s great!” you admit, “but he’s just not for me.”And no one would believe you.
“Stop being so picky!” “You don’t even KNOW what you want!” “Any girl would consider herself lucky to have this kitchen, er, guy!”
Until you went and found your truly perfect match.
“Ohhh!” everyone you know softly exclaimed. “We get it now.”
So the moral of the story is: don’t settle! If your heart is longing for a light, modern kitchen with gray cabinets that reach all the way to the ceiling and a white island and a reclaimed barnwood herringbone backsplash, you go get it girl.
This stunning kitchen belongs to Erin and you can see all the details and the step-by-step process it took to achieve this makeover on her blog Suburban Bitches.

February 26, 2016 at 2:46 PMI wish I’d been around when they were getting rid of the light fixtures and the stools…..loved the old ones, but I do love a white kitchen.

February 26, 2016 at 5:13 PMHa! I get it!! Getting ready to move into a house with a perfectly acceptable kitchen, nice layout, great quality appliances, granite countertops … but I have YEARNED for a white, surgical suite-like kitchen (tile everywhere) since 1996, lllloooonnngg before they were trendy. Fortunately, my hubs has seen me suffer with an original 1959 kitchen for 15 years (push button range, anyone?) … And has ok’d the expense to have cabinets painted! Already has white subway tile, so we are beyond halfway there!
Sometimes you have to settle. For awhile. But at almost 50, I’m done with it! 🙂

February 28, 2016 at 11:28 PMI guess I’m probably in the minority, but I really like the ‘before’ kitchen. It doesn’t seem so sterile as the ‘after’ kitchen, and has a lot more character. I have nothing against white kitchens, it’s just that this one seems a little too bland.

February 29, 2016 at 9:01 AMLarry the pre-med student. That was my perfectly nice guy in college. My parents loved him. My friends loved him. His parents loved me. His friends … eh you get it. On paper he was perfect. But he just wasn’t right. I can identify with this kitchen. Thank goodness I waited for my handsome prince who did someday come. I’m just hoping my kitchen prince comes too!
