Black Halloween Cat Makeover

I’ve got some spooky Halloween decor for you today, (if you follow me on instagram, you’ve already had a sneak peek!) The best part is you can whip up in ten minutes or less, assuming you have a super ugly cat sculpture lying around the house. And who doesn’t, am I right?

If you are fresh out of ugly cat sculptures, I’ll wait while you head down to your local thrift store where you are sure to find something similar.

*twiddling thumbs*

You’re back! Great! Let’s get started.

Step one: Spray paint that sad little thing black.

Paint the eyeballs if you want it to look especially creepy. Boom. You are done.

I originally painted my cat’s eyes white, but everyone in the household was too creeped out by its soul-sucking blank stare and preferred the red.

What do you think? Red or white? Or maybe you’d do something else entirely.  I’d love to see your pics if you do, especially if you can’t find any cats and have to use like, ceramic geese or something. Oh man, Halloween geese! That should be a thing.

Happy Saturday!

I think the red is fine but it would be fun to paint over the red part with some glow-in-the-dark paint (dries clear or even milky) or reflective paint. I found some “UV Reactive” paint that illuminates under a black light.

I actually did this when I saw it on your Instagram. I found a cat at the thrift store that day and figured why not! He’s sitting on my self now and everyone loves it!

Red! I don’t decorate for Halloween but if I did, this is what I would do. But I actually HAVE a real live black cat for a pet so I could just train her to sit on my mantel….or not.

The white eyes are incredibly creepy! I don’t think I could sleep with that in the house! 🙂

I like the idea of yellow eyes – glow in the dark if you can!

I would have done green – like a bright chartreuse! I like the red, though.

This is great! I like both sets of eyes- there’s an acrylic paint called “Interference paint” that shimmers when you look at it. From straight on, you can’t see it. From an angle, it will reflect a color. (You can find them at most craft stores with the other acrylics.) I would hit either set of eyes with that in a complementary color so the eyes shift colors depending on where you are in the room.
