Summertime means sitting outside, sipping a frosty glass of lemonade, watching as hummingbirds flit past, smelling the heady aroma of freshly cut grass, and relaxing in your favorite lawn chair as the cool breeze caresses your face. So I’ve heard. I don’t actually leave my house during the summer or my face will melt off.
So I will enjoy the idea of YOU sitting outside, and here are some inspirational patio furniture makeovers to get you jazzed on the idea too.
First from Amanda at Mommy is Coocoo who salvaged this vintage chair. I’m all for a weathered patina, but this thing looked like it had fought in the war. Of 1812. At least none of the neighbors were likely to steal it, so it had that going for it. Much better in a shiny coat of red though, I’d say.
I also once featured her vintage rocker makeover before, but heck why not show it again?! Such a great find! See it on her blog here.
These chairs were somewhat depressing. The left one looks like it’s using an invisibility cloak to avoid being seen. But our hero Red Spray Paint came to the rescue again with his trusty sidekick Snazzy Fabric, and they saved the day, nay, the whole summer! Hooray! From Beck at Beckwith’s Treasures.

July 10, 2014 at 8:26 PMWhen I first stumbled across your blog, I confess to just soaking up all those before and after pictures. Then I happened to read the one about metallics being in style- even in fashion world and you included some pictures and some commentary about one of the outfits looking like an unopened pop tart and like she picked up two dead things and forgot to put them down. I laughed until I cried. Then I started reading all your posts. You are SO funny. Face melting off… slathering sunscreen on random passers by… left brain as bossy as Cinderella’s step mother. LOL! Good Stuff, Lindsey.

July 10, 2014 at 8:30 PMOh, and I do understand a HOT summer. We’re in the Dallas area, also known as Face of the Sun. Our summer lasts a good (well, bad) 6 months. I hibernate inside, while sitting directly under a ceiling fan.

July 11, 2014 at 5:51 PMYay! Us Gingers finally get a look in! Ok ok, so no hairy chairs there but RED! I mean, come ON..we are always on far side of the table, always in the shadow of the blondes. Those white washed gals push us aside for chalk and milk every time. THIS redhead is happy to see some redlegs for a change!

July 12, 2014 at 3:05 AMGorgeous red! As I was reading some comments, I found myself want to click on a “Like” button. But maybe that is because I have insomnia at the moment, and that seemed much easier than actually commenting myself! I read this post via email subscription, and just had to come say “Hi” anyway. 🙂 Keep them coming!

When you were first talking about what summer time is like, in my mind, I made up excuses as to why you would lie. “She has to make things sound good for her readers all over the world. A lot of people don’t know that spending time outside in Arizona in the summer means you take your life into your own hands. Or maybe she has had some great vacations.”
