I’ve always been into furniture makeovers. Like, since forever. Since I was a little girl and made myself a nightstand out of a milk-crate and a pillowcase. Since the time I asked my second-grade teacher if we could rearrange the furniture in the classroom. (Her desk formations weren’t doing it for my feng shui).
Even before I knew what ‘good bones’ and ‘clean lines’ were, I remember looking at this nearly identical chair in my great-grandma’s house and thinking there was something special about it. Hers was a pea-green color and smelled like … well, like a great-grandma’s house, but I always loved it. After she died, I kept the chair and took it with me to college. And kept it hidden under a blanket, unfortunately. I still loved it, but that color was really tragic. If I had had the money back then, I would have recovered it with a white vinyl and made it look super modern. *wistful sigh of regret*
I don’t have it anymore, but I wish I did. I’ll live vicariously through Kristine’s chair makeover instead. It turned out so good! The only thing that would make it better would be two of them! In my house! See it on her blog Teeny Ideas.

June 9, 2014 at 8:20 PMThat gray print is so pretty. I love the chair. However, I really do love it in orange (before it was road worn). The orange fabric and wooden legs scream mid-century or as I call it, my childhood. Those greens and oranges were just so mod!
