I haven’t painted anything black in a while. Other than the town. No wait, I painted that red. No wait, I actually stayed home in paint-spattered sweats and read Us Weekly. So … kind of the same thing. Anyway, I haven’t painted anything black in a while. I don’t know why, I used to have a lot of black in my home, but I guess it just started to feel heavy.
However, this spinet desk makeover by Reeves looks anything but heavy. How is that possible? My guesses are: because of the delicate legs, the surprising splash of salmon inside, and the way she paired it up with a see-through chair. Boom. Nailed it. See more on her blog The Weathered Door.
Soooo pretty! I love this color combo.

May 13, 2014 at 9:12 PMOh gosh, I didn’t even see the chair until after I read about it! I was admiring the photo for at least a few minutes. Huh.
Love it all!

May 14, 2014 at 6:04 AMThat spinet looks like a pair of black high-heeled Manolo Blahnik pumps–you know, the really spindly kind I wish I could wear? Love it!
I have a small secretary I would love to paint but my husband says “No, it’s too valuable.” Let’s see, when is his next trip scheduled…?

May 14, 2014 at 11:28 AMAnother smashing makeover! I love it! I found a spinet desk last summer, and I put it in my bedroom. It’s in pretty good shape, so I don’t plan to paint it, but it’s awesome to see the possibilities if I ever change my mind!
