Despite taking up about 40% of the room all by itself, this massive shower still gave me the claustrophobia sweats just from looking at it. Are the vertical lines of the wallpaper causing an optical illusion? Is it a trick of the light? Perhaps the World’s Narrowest Shower Door has something to do with it. That and the dropped ceiling. *shudder*
But guess what? There truly was a huge shower under there after all! Julia excavated it during this remodel, and ditched the wallpaper and punched up the color on the cabinets while she was at it. She splurged on the gorgeous new floor, and saved by simply painting the existing fixtures with epoxy paint. SO much better!
Same vanity, but it looks totally different, right? See more on her blog NearlyFactotum.

May 16, 2014 at 7:10 AMGreat makeover on a budget. Not sure about the green paint color choice for the cabinets but everything else is a very nice upgrade.

May 16, 2014 at 7:18 AMOh My–that is the exact wallpaper that I picked out around 1990 when my mom was updating me from a “kid” bath to a “teen” bath. I thought it was height of sophistication at the time. I even got hunter green, maroon, and gold towels and a toilet seat cover to match my mature and grown up choice! Don’t worry, my mom has since changed it too!

May 16, 2014 at 7:51 AMI personally love the green! Love to see some color in a bathroom, so many are just a huge canvas of neutral. Love the floor too!! Beautiful job!
