This house had a bit of an identity crisis. Half dingy siding, half dirty brick … the front door looked like the side door, the side door looked like it didn’t even want to be there, the whole thing just needed some love. That’s where Ali and her husband Brian stepped in, with plenty of love to give.
(Although shhhh! They planned to love it and leave it, since the goal here was to flip this house). But I think the house is happy either way, because now it looks so cozy and cohesive and welcoming. And did you notice it’s still half siding, half brick? What a difference a matching coat of paint makes, eh? The little portico over the front door makes much more of an impact now too.

February 6, 2014 at 8:48 AMLooks much better!!! I think I would remove the ‘front door’ altogether, however, and make that side door with the chimney the front door, and perhaps make a covered porch there as well. But the color does make a huge difference!

February 6, 2014 at 9:16 AMSuper cute! Love all the new details, like the extended walkway, extra window on the side, stepping wood slabs and portico. I would buy!

February 6, 2014 at 9:30 AMI love it when people have guests to their home walk across the grass. A little pathway wouldn’t hurt people! We recently poured a new cement walkway in front of our house – the previous was a skinny little walk-of-shame. Now it’s a plant filled winding path to the front door. The highest praise I got was from my sis-in-law who is a Jehovah’s Witness. Her comment when she came over for the fist time after the work was completed … “I’ve seen a lot of front doors and entries, A LOT, and this looks awesome.” I guess she is the expert! 🙂

February 6, 2014 at 10:11 AMPretty, but not sure I would’ve removed all wheelchair access from the front of the house. Sure, it looks cute and all, but even leaving a small concrete ramp at the front with a modest railing would still look grand and save that expense down the line.

February 6, 2014 at 5:53 PMLovely! I agree with another poster though, not just a wheelchair access but for those Mums who use pushers. I lived in a house with exactly 7 steps and to get bub up those steps in the pusher was a nightmare! Even a few steps up is hard work. So a little ramp on the side of the house wouldn’t be out of place, me thinks. I do love the colour, very nice. Love the look.

February 7, 2014 at 8:48 AMI am no expert, but I think that ramps actually hurt resale value, so if these are flippers, that’s why they removed it.
I like how they emphasized the front door so guests know where to go. I had the same problem in a former house. People always ended up trying to come in the mudroom instead of the front door. The mudroom door was right by the driveway because the house was on a corner lot. It was annoying.
