Once upon a time, about 60 years ago, lovely little ranch home was built on the top of a hill. A happy couple raised a family and lived there for many years until they died in 2005. One of their sons bought the home from the estate, with big plans to make it a two-story. Sadly, halfway through the job, he got injured. He went past the construction loan period and the bank shut him down. The house sat, untouched and unfinished for several years.
Then Kristy came along! She saw the home’s potential and offered to buy it. But the family was still holding on to their dreams of finishing it. Finally, the day came when they realized they would have to let it go into foreclosure. Luckily they remembered Kristy and her offer, and she was quick to snatch it up.
So, seven years of emptiness and decay later, this was where Kristy picked up. Good thing she has vision and bravery and a high tolerance for floor rot!
The original owners had planned to tear out the kitchen and put a garage in it’s place, but Kristy kept it where it was. Yep, that’s the SAME ROOM!
The exterior received a dramatic makeover as well …
Can a house smile? Because I feel like this one totally does!
Amazing work Kristy!

October 16, 2013 at 2:08 PMKristy is either amazingly brave or incredibly stupid. That ought to be nominated for some kind of renovation of the year. Amazing work! That before would have had me running for the hills.

October 16, 2013 at 9:29 PMThanks so much ladies! Unfortunately I do not have a blog and I am not nearly technologically advanced enough to pull that off, BUT, I could probably get all the pics into some kind of album I could share? haha! I will look into that! Luckily that picture of the old kitchen is the only room that was like that, the rest of the house was gutted to the studs. Tons of work but not a whole lot of demo 🙂

October 17, 2013 at 5:33 AMI’m with the others… more interior shots. Amazing work!! I’d like to think I’m pretty good about seeing potential, but this one would’ve had me looking the other way.

October 17, 2013 at 6:39 AMWow!! I’ve always admired people who can take something, really in shambles, and transform it like this! I think I would be scared to death (mainly that I’d go over my budget by quadruple!!) – but I love that this house was saved from ruin – just goes to show what vision & a lot of hard work can do!!

October 17, 2013 at 12:37 PMGigi, I don’t even remember what our budget was now but I guarantee we went over it by a lot! I do know the budget the prior owner had we missed by 2 1/2x!! Lol
Luckily we got it on a short sale and Matt is super handy 🙂

December 14, 2013 at 6:44 PMKristy is my daughter. She and Matt worked incredibly hard to make their dream house. They are an amazing couple and parents. We love spending time with all of them in this house. You just know by being there how much heart and soul they have poured into this beautiful home.
