Skiing the light

Got a bunch of old water-skis laying around and taking up space?  Who doesn’t!? Well, ok, I don’t, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy this super-creative wall lantern idea from Deb at Lake Girl Paints.  Just as fabulous as all the oar-art you see floating around the webosphere these days, and perfect if you happen to have yourself a summer cottage on the lake.  I don’t have that either.  We’ll just have to crash Deb’s pad, I’m sure she won’t mind.

Look, a side-by-side!  I’ve been trying to figure out a system with the side-by-sides, really, it just depends on if the pictures and the projects lend themselves to it.  So I probably won’t do it for every single post, but I’ll do my best to put one up if the photos and angles work out.  Sound cool?

Hey, did I ever tell you my one water-skiing story?  It goes like this: Try to water-ski. Fail. Try again. Fail. Try again. Fail. Try again. Fail. Try again. Fail. Try again. SUCCEED!  Everyone watching from the boat gets so excited that I’m finally not failing that their excessive cheering causes the driver of the boat to stop, thinking I have failed again. The line goes slack, and I immediately stop succeeding at water-skiing. Never manage to succeed again.  The end.

I have never tried skiing of any kind, your story is what I would expect if I tried minus the succeed at the end and the lack of broken bones I would surely find a way to break. Love what Deb did with her ski, I want one!!

My water skiing story is almost as sad: I try to water ski, and fail. Try again, and fail. Try again and succeed!! Eventually fall while boat is traveling at a high rate of speed, and only after that and much pounding/jouncing on the water, friends realize they forgot to tell me that when I fall, I should let go of the rope.

But I *love* this idea! May have to incorporate even though I have a pool in the backyard, not a lake.

I was 8 when we bought our first boat and I learned to water ski…my Dad told me “Whatever you do, don’t let go of the rope!” He didn’t bother to tell me that did NOT apply when you fall. I almost drowned..but by gosh I didn’t let go of that rope!
Darling B/A! I have been looking for things to repurpose for functional use…turned an old gun into a coat/hat rack and just did an old wood level…another wall hanger for coats, hats, etc.
Always fun to find and repurpose!

My water skiing story is awesome!! I tried and tried many times on trips to the lake and just couldn’t get the hang of it. Once again, i went with a gang (friends, not Crips or Bloods) to the lake to ski. This time the CUTEST guy in school is with the big ol group of us. He watched me, Miss Shy Wallflower, and decided he should help. He gave me pointers and told me what to. Probably because he’s a god, i was able to waterski from that moment on!!!

So funny, my waterskiing story is the same only without any SUCCEED.

Love this, may have to do something like it with an old skateboard or something, that is all the cool I have!

Don’t worry, I snow-ski the same way. All on my butt. So I gave it up.
