So the other night I went to the movies with some friends. We saw Man of Steel, and I Henry, uh highly recommend it. Anyway, it was this kind of fancy movie theater, and their big deal is that all the seats have built-in tables, and they’ll serve you food and drinks throughout the movie. Sounds awesome right? WRONG! Have you ever tried eating a giant plate of chicken nachos in the dark? No? Try eating a giant plate of chicken nachos in the dark while wearing a pair of 3D glasses. It’s … eventful. And it occurred to me, as I was blindly stabbing at my plate (they served the nachos with a fork, this place is weird, I’m telling you) that for some strange reason, since I couldn’t see my food, it didn’t really taste all that good either.
All of which makes me wonder … will a well-lit and attractive dining room actually make your food taste better? I think the obvious answer is yes. Maybe Linda, who turned her dining room into the board and batten beauty it is today, will know for sure. Find out on her blog It All Started With Paint.

Thank you Lindsey for sharing with your readers!

P.S. That movie theater does sound weird … and wasn’t all that fork stabbing and nacho crunching and plate spilling (I’m assuming that) cause a lot of noise? 🙂

June 23, 2013 at 9:55 PMLove the new dining room. I totally agree about the whole “fork and screen” experience. We know people who won’t see movies any other way, but it’s awkward to eat in a recliner in the dark. We tried it once, and when the wait staff came around to check for refills, etc. one last time right in the middle of the movie’s big scene, I’d had it.
