Dare I say it? Is the accent wall trend … dead? I’m seeing less and less of them anymore. Don’t get me wrong, there are still plenty of cool accent walls made with stencils and/or other details, (this one from Mandi at Vintage Revivals comes to mind), but are the days of painting one wall a drastic color and leaving the others blank gone for good? Did they really ever provide that oomph factor anyway? Or was it more like a “Hey, you forgot to finish painting” factor?
Take a look at this bedroom makeover from Rita at Suburbs Mama and see what you think. The new cohesive wall color makes the whole room seem twice as big! Doesn’t hurt that I want to steal uh, borrow every beautiful accessory, pillow, and item of furniture in here either. Fabulous job Rita!
PS: We have a HomeRight Steam Machine winner! Congrats Laura Wilson, I will be emailing you ASAP!

March 25, 2013 at 8:33 PMI much prefer the after, although either bed would have worked well in that space when finished.

March 25, 2013 at 8:54 PMWell, IMO, I’m tired of the colors brown, yellowish gold, red, anything that makes you have to stay with that in your decorating. I love the whites, so that you can spiffy things up simply by changing a few inexpensive items. It is also light and bright and it DOES make everything look larger! Rita’s room is gorgeous. I’m in the process of going whites and neutrals with a little very light blue tossed in. It is calming and soothing and I love it. Begone gold! Begone browns and tans! Begone any other color. It’s time to fall in love with white again.

March 25, 2013 at 9:03 PMwow what a transformation!!! 1 question with the fixtures on the ceiling fan…don’t they make a lot of noise when the fan is on????

March 25, 2013 at 9:45 PMDesigner Nate Berkus says no to the accent wall, he says if you a love a color you should commit to it and do the entire room. I have to agree!
That bedroom looks so peaceful and spacious, wonderful!

March 26, 2013 at 3:41 AMWow isn’t this a gorgeous makeover! I’ve never been a fan of an accent wall especially when it’s such a different color than the other 3 walls. In fact I usually recommend painting all 4 walls and the ceiling the same color especially in small rooms.

March 26, 2013 at 9:57 PMWAIT A SECOND, what is going on with that fan!? I love that! My house is FULL of ceiling fans so I’ve resigned myself to NOT being able to hang awesomeness in light form. THAT THING IS AMAZING. And the paint is awesome too!
