Beauty 4 Ever

Someday, far from now, when our grandchildren are laboriously stripping layers of paint from the furniture they inherited from us, they will shake their heads and sigh and say, “Grandma, did you have to paint everything turquoise?”

Because trends will come and go, you see,  but this (free!) dresser set makeover by Ellie is sure to stand the test of time.  It would have looked as great 100 years ago as it looks today, and 100 years from now, unless we are all living on the moon by then.  *fingers crossed*  Check this labor of love on her blog Beauty 4 Ashes.

I have wondered about that myself…here I am staining everything in dark, rich walnut, and wondering who ever though blonde wood was pretty…how long before dark is OUT and the orange wood is back IN?

Trends come and go so often! But for now, we do what we think is beautiful and both projects are just that! 🙂

I love the pieces with the classic lines that never go out of style. And now the white really freshens it up. I have mixed pieces in my home. Some painted, some not.

Oooh, pretty! ‘Specially love the 2nd one. There is furniture similar to this in my parent’s basement…probably crying silent tears that nobody is painting them, too!

Korrie, I’m the same way with dark wood stain.

Except for this one piece that I’m painting… turquoise, and well, Lindsay, now I feel all bad about it. Dirty, even.

But it’s only one piece! I swear!

These 2 pieces are beyond spectacular! We’re in the end stages of a total house remodel ourselves and I have some older wood and MDF pieces that I would like to salvage for decorating but I’ll need to paint them… hopefully I can do half as well as these pieces were done!
