Better After reader Tammy’s old kitchen was really nothing to write home about, unless you were writing home to complain. Is that a washing machine across from the fridge? I know that having washers and dryers in the kitchen is not such a crazy idea, especially overseas, but I have kids. I have seen what kind of disgustingness goes into the washer. I don’t want that shiz anywhere NEAR my food. I also wouldn’t want guests to drop by, and instead of cookies, I pull out a warm batch of my underwear.
But anyway. If there is a washer and dryer in there now, it’s safely behind that new wall, and everything else is simply stunning! Cabinets are the same, just painted. I especially love that table, get
this: Tammy and her husband built out of reclaimed wood from the floorboard of an old rail car! Cool!

May 10, 2011 at 9:39 PMThat is phenomenal! It’s hard to believe it’s the same kitchen. A really, really great job.
My washer & dryer currently reside in the kitchen and we’d need to do a major remodel to relocate them. (Thanks 1950’s architects who couldn’t imagine the little woman doing anything BUT washing and cooking….)

Yeah it is hard to believe that’s the same place. It went from apartment grade to gourmet. I love every inch of this space that I can see!

May 12, 2011 at 7:27 PMYou are so funny! I LOVE reading your comments! But hey, sometimes a warm batch of underwear is as good as cookies (but not at someone else’s house, of course).

May 18, 2011 at 3:01 AMTammy here… thanks for all of your kind comments! My husband and I had a lot of fun fixing up this space, and we just LOVE how it came out! It’s so fun to make places your own! In fact, we have just begun our next project, the Master Bath. Hope to share those pictures with you too, once we finish.
