Pretty sure I had this exact same lamp at some point during college, when I decorated my apartment with anything anyone would give me. Not the ugliest lamp we’ve ever seen. But it sure ain’t the cutest. Plus it has a weird leathery shade. Well not anymore cowboy!
Erin from The Impatient Gardener brightened it up with a coat of yellow and a hip little lampshade that she made herself! I’m so impressed! Great job Erin! Check out her blog for the lampshade tutorial.

March 24, 2011 at 1:06 AMUmmm yeah, totally had like 5 lamps similar to that one that my husband bought for his college apartment. He was so proud that he picked them out too…
Great thinking, Erin! Now I’m wishing they hadn’t gone to the last garage sale! 😉

March 24, 2011 at 8:03 PMLooks great, now can she whip up some more magic on that leathery shade? I have a couple of those in my basement that I just can’t seem to toss, I know someone will figure out a way to make them look good.
