True story: We have been desperately searching for a big girl bed for Miss Mia, our 2-year-old daughter. Obviously, I’m in the business of before and afters, so I’m not about to waltz up to any old furniture store and buy the first bed I see. Nope, Goodwill and Craigslist all the way babe!
Like Centsational Girl says, “I completely reject the notion that second-hand is second-class.”
Anyhoo, it took forfreakingever, but last night we finally found the perfect little wrought-iron bed on Craigslist. (Word tip of the day: it is indeed spelled wrought-iron, not rod-iron, not wraught-iron, and good heavens to Betsy, certainly not rot-iron).
What does that have to do with anything, you ask? Well, if the bed thing hadn’t panned out, Rachel’s headboard idea here was my Plan B. See it on her blog And I Thought I’d Never Have a Blog. Ha!

February 9, 2011 at 1:05 AMLove the fabric headboard! Can’t wait to see your daughter’s new wrought iron bed. Too funny about the spelling.
I came across a “black letter spining chair” that was a black leather spinning barstool today.

February 9, 2011 at 2:34 AMFunny we had been searching for a bed for our 2yr old also. I found a cute little vintage bed in a consignment store that I have painted white. I then saw a bed just like it for sale at a vintage boutique on Craiglist for $200 and I paid $75 YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!! I am in the process of finishing her room.

February 9, 2011 at 3:55 AMJust the other day I was thinking of all the mispronunciations and misspellings of “wrought-iron”…
Life is hard when you have as many pet peeves as I do. 🙂
Thanks for setting the record straight!

February 9, 2011 at 4:54 AMThere are some real interesting spellings on Craigslist aren’t there? I am slowly winning my husband over to second-hand items.

February 10, 2011 at 9:49 PMCould you do a post on Craig’s list and let people know? I too see it all the time and shake my head. I hope you are going to do a before and after of your daughter’s bed 🙂
