Tanja’s living room was not lacking style, that’s for sure. But it was lacking a fireplace. Just kidding! It has a fireplace, can’t you see it? There in the corner? That black rectangle thing hiding behind the couch? It’s totally a fireplace.
But after some love from Tanja, it’s a bona fide Focal Point, adding drama and height and color and sha-jazz to the room. Loving the new mirror too, the diamond pattern plays off of the lampshades nicely. Check it out on Tanja’s blog, Postmodern Hostess.

December 2, 2010 at 3:19 PMThat’s great! I loved the room before the redo, but the fireplace really should be the focal point of a room.
Fabulous!

December 2, 2010 at 3:46 PMThat is a HUGE improvement for sure. Only thing I’d do different is add a mantle. Sorry, I just can’t do fireplaces without a mantle.
But really…what is the thought process of putting a fireplace in the CORNER of a room? Wierd.

December 2, 2010 at 7:28 PMThanks so much for the shout-out, and for all the lovely feedback! The corner fireplace was definitely odd to work with, and makes furniture arrangement tricky to say the least! We’re still considering adding a mantle, but the room is so itty bitty that we don’t want to cut into the space any more than necessary.
Thanks again!
xoxo,
Tanja

December 7, 2010 at 3:17 PMWith the before pic I thought it looked great but I didn’t even see it had a fireplace. Then the after picture was like magic..poof a fireplace.
