The spooky before and afters continue in honor of Halloween! This project comes from Jonalynn from Turn Up the Rad. The after isn’t at all scary or Halloweenish, but hot dang, does that before not kind of creep you out a little? Sure the girl is a cutie pie and whatever, but I am always so disturbed to come across a picture still in its frame at the thriftstore. Especially pictures of kids. Especially pictures of this magnitude. Thing was huge, ya’ll.
Jonalynn figured the frame was the perfect size for a coffee table tray, so that’s what it became, and I am happy to report that the creepy picture isn’t lurking under the chevron design, but has since been removed.
Have you ever stumbled across a find like this? A photo album with hundreds of photos still inside? A jewelry box full of love notes? Once my friend Kristan bought what she thought was an unused notebook, but it turned out to be the half-used poetry journal of an angsty adolescent boy. Good times.

October 29, 2010 at 9:21 PMCute tray, hopefully whoever this little gal is she hasn’t grown up to be a blogger. Now wouldn’t that be a shocker LOL!

October 29, 2010 at 9:33 PMI had a similar “creepy photograph left behind in a thrift store frame” experience this summer.

In my case, it was a wedding picture.

October 29, 2010 at 9:55 PMoh yes. I especially love silver trays and I find some beautiful ones with names and date of the wedding on them. Makes me sad but I somehow feel drawn to them and buy them to give them continued life. Hey, I work in dog rescue, too, 🙂

October 29, 2010 at 10:29 PMI bought a quilt that was perfectly crafted with precision applique that must have literally taken hundreds of hours. It was a work of art in a thrift store. I couldn’t bear to leave it there and bought it. It still blows me away when I look at the skill it took to build it.

October 29, 2010 at 11:41 PMi see stuff like this all the time and i create all these mental scenarios about why the pics are there– or engraved wedding gifts, etc.
btw– love the frame idea and intend to copy it!

October 30, 2010 at 12:29 AMWedding photos still in frames (at thrift stores) make me sad. I assume they are divorced now.

October 30, 2010 at 1:49 AMCute tray redo. I actually have seen large framed photos of people and kids in the thrift shop and have always felt a little bad about it. How could you throw out a picture of your kid, grandkid etc???

October 30, 2010 at 1:55 AMI feel sorry for the little girl and the people who gave frames with wedding photos in it. What is the protocol about old wedding photos after a divorce? Ok don’t want to think about it now.
The tray is cute though. 🙂
