Speaking of grandmas, (we weren’t but go with it), did I ever tell you that my grandma is a clogging queen? (Clogging is like tap dancing, as far as I can tell, only more… energetic? Or corny? Or something?) Anyway, she clogs it up! She gets all dolled up with a bunch of other elderly dancers and they stomp around in their ruffles and bows, and the whole shamdangle is a sight to behold and it all kind of reminds me of this before lamp.
Deanne didn’t so much want a granny lamp wearing a clogging costume in her living room, so she gave it a sleek and chic makeover. It looks lovely! Check it out on her blog, where she chronicles her decision to live thrifty: My Second(hand) Life.

October 18, 2010 at 6:51 PMThe granny lampshade was hideous, but it did make me smile when I saw it. I’d still go with the “after” version though.

October 18, 2010 at 6:53 PMI LOVE the after! Amazing!
What I want to know is how on earth they got a light bulb under that before shade!? I’m surprised it didn’t go up in flames. It looks like the shade was resting directly on the light bulb. And it does look exactly like a square dancing skirt.
