You Were My Sunshine

Kate’s guestroom was such a sunny shade it was giving her guests sunburns. She decided to tone it down with a cool gray and some great accents.  I especially love those tree decals!  Now her guestroom is the highlight of her home, instead of being colored in with highlighter.  Check it out on her blog, Twenty-Six to Life.  Thanks Kate!

To The Rescue!

It’s time for another captivating tale of style and redemption from White Paint Wonder and his sidekick, Beadboard! They heard the distress call coming from Diane’s dated living room and swooped into action!  Quick as a flash they transformed it from a jarring wall of wood into a sleek and seamless centerpiece.  “They saved the day!” onlookers were heard to say.  “They truly are the Heroes of Home Decor!”  What will they transform next?  Will they finally overcome their evil nemesis Orangey Oak once and for all? Only time will tell…
More to see on Diane’s blog The Perfectly Imperfect Life.

Gotcha!

This old dresser was looking pretty shabby.  Or was it?  Was it even a dresser at all?  No silly, it’s a jewelry box!  Charity from All Things Beautiful was looking for a gift for a little girl’s birthday and decided to redo this $5.99 thriftstore find.  So, if you ever feel the itch to transform something but are short on space or cash, consider a simple makeover like this!  Little project, big difference.  Thanks Charity!

Change is Good

I wish I was more like Tracey here, who’s living room is ever-evolving.  When I find something that works, I tend to stick with it for a loooong time.  Heck, I’ll stick to something even if it doesn’t work, but that’s because I’m a cheapity cheapskate sometimes.  Check out the many transformations her living room has gone through from the past to the most present.  More here on her blog
My House of Giggles. Thanks Tracey!

Sit For a Spell

Have an old outdoor bench lying around?  If it’s looking a little weathered from being in the weather, why not dust if off and freshen it up?  Your neighbors will thank you.
The first bench comes from Carla at Teeny and Tiny.  The pretty scroll design was hardly noticeable under that washed out paint, but Carla fixed it up and gave it a dramatic cushion cover for some extra oomph.
The second bench comes from The Fabric Floozie who rescued (or rather, made her husband rescue!) this broken down bench from a neighbor’s trash pile.  She put a lot of effort into restoring it, and it looks beautiful.  I would regret tossing that to the curb if I was her neighbor!  Check out her blog for the full details.  Thanks ladies!

Snore Decor No More

If you are relatively new to the world of home decor blogging, you may not have heard about drop cloth curtains, which got pretty popular.  They’re the easiest thing ever!  Go to Lowe’s or Home Depot or what have you, buy a couple of drop cloths for $9, wash, dry, iron, hang!  The fabric is pre-hemmed and a nice neutral shade and you can’t beat that price for any yardage.
Suzanne from Suburban Spunk  turned up the style in her blah bedroom with new artwork and accessories, and gave her drop cloth curtains an eye-catching oversize ricrac border.  Looks super!  Thanks Suzanne!
