Tool Cool for School

Things you can never have too much of: money, clothes, shoes, and toolboxes.  Ok, I’m really not sure about that last one, because I wouldn’t know what it’s like to have a handyman around the house (love you Matt, but let’s be honest with ourselves), but I imagine it’s probably true.  So, here’s a super clever way to store your tools in style without spending a bumload on another toolbox.  Because you should really be spending that money on shoes.

Narsty to Niiiice

Would you believe me if I told you that this big ol’ pile of stuff could possibly look cute?  No?  You are right, it can’t.  Hey, bubbles!  Uh, anyway, no, this assortment of junk just can’t, by its very nature, be cute. Even if your organized it and straightened it and put it in matching baskets.  But what if you just hid it all behind an orange curtain of awesomeness?  Yes, hiding is the answer! 

From Leah, who called it a “narsty” old shelf she found in a dorm trash pile and painted Rustoleum True Blue, in addition to adding the fabulous curtains.  I don’t know if “narsty” is a typo, but it’s my new favorite word all the same.

Obviously this here was an empty room. Naked room makeovers feel like freebies because even the smallest effort equals improvement.  Slap some paint on the walls, throw a bed in there with a cute comforter, and bam, better after.  Well, anyone can put a bed in a bedroom, but Christie from Southern Priss went the extra mile for her guest room. There is cute happening all over the place.  (And she only spent $170!! Wow!)  I’d feel very welcomed in there.  Thanks for sharing Christine!

Clear the Veneer

Have you ever found a great old item of furniture, then got scared away by the presence of peeling or chipping veneer? (raises hand)  Don’t fret, there is hope! Next time, consider hiding that unsightly raw damage with paintable wallpaper! 

That’s what Sarah from Dumped and Discovered did when sanding and filling the wood underneath the veneer on this piece was simply not going to cut it.  It went from a $5 yard sale find to one of her favorite makeovers ever!
