Squared Away

Rebecca had a big, empty room that was great for spontaneous square-dancing, but not much else.  Not being much of a square-dancer, she decided to turn it into a craft room instead.  Oh no, problem alert! All she had was a budget of $0!  Did she let that stop her?  Psh.  Don’t be silly. 
First she scraped up some fundage by selling a few unwanted items on craigslist.  Then she used the cash to purchase the larger items of furniture, and found a few freebies from shopping the house (and maybe the alley) along the way.  Now it’s a colorful craftopia!  Check it out on her blog Older and Wisor.

12 In bathroom

What I Like About You

Two things I do not agree with in this before bathroom:  The “dressing room” light fixture.  Those things should be banned in all 50 states.  And the builder-basic mirror, which lacks any sort of depth or personality.  Also, the combination of etched glass and brass on the shower door.  (Not that I agree with either of those things on their own.)  And the muted mauve wallpaper border. Plus the absence of a fun way to pass the time while in the bathroom, like say, a chalkboard wall for which to play tic-tac-toe upon. So I guess that was really six things.  But I am finding the after MUCH more agreeable!

Been spending most our lives … living in a gangsta’s paradise…

It’s time for another episode of “I Can’t Believe You Found That in the TRASH!” with special guest star, Intensely Awesome Mirror.  In this tearjerking episode, Carla discovers a dusty but nearly perfect mirror cast into the garbage.  Horrified, she cleans it up and nurtures it back to health, giving this once street-tough decor some self-respect and a place to finally call home.

Do you have a large item of furniture that is just screaming out for a fresh paint job, but you can’t decide exactly what paint color that should be?   Let me help!

Or black!  Like Shannon from Shabby to Chic Queen Creek did here!  Black is practically foolproof!

Or, if you are decision-makingly challenged and non-confrontational like me, do a little of both and make everyone happy: gray!

Frustration to Elation

Woah.  There was a serious case of toy diarrhea up in here.  Rach knew something had to be done.  She had already won a bunch of cool-mom points by letting her kids have the ‘formal’ dining room as a toy room, but now she needed some inspiration, organization and colorization.  I’d say mission accomplished.  Check out more on her blog Family Ever After.
