After Kate remodeled her kitchen, she noticed her young son “stalking around stroking the cupboards and muttering gleefully ‘My new kitchen! What is in my cupboards? I cook now!’ Um, he sounds like the cutest. So she decided he needed a new kitchen too. She created the kid kitchen of his dreams starting with a hutch top she found on ebay for £12, which, if my pound-to-dollar currency converting skills are up to snuff, is something like $20? Hot deal!

It’s outdoor season here! We can open our windows! We can grill on the patio! We can enjoy it for about two whole weeks before our faces start to melt off if we even look outside! Hopefully you are just beginning a long and adventurous season of outdoor entertaining. Maybe you have just recently dusted off your patio furniture and dragged it out of storage and realized that ew! It could use some updating.
Here’s one idea from Kelly, who reupholstered her patio chairs with some groovy green-striped outdoor fabric. Does it count as “reupholstering” if she technically didn’t sew one stitch and used safety pins instead? It does in my book! She found her no-sew tutorial right HERE.
Beth was also over her tired and taupe-y loungers, so she came up with a quick fix using a few different paint colors and painter’s tape. This is the kind of project you could knock out in an hour! So what I’m saying is … this is my kind of project.
Kim from Just a Southern Girl covered her rattan loveseat with a big, happy floral (doing all the upholstery, zippers and piping herself, knuckle-bump!) It’s part of a set, and she plans to finish the other pieces in a solid, but ANYTHING would be better than the former fabric, which appears to be the official fabric of Disease.
Kristen had had it up to here (picture me holding my hand way high above my head) with her brassy, glassy, non-classy hall light. Inspired by Ballard Design’s orb chandelier, but not willing to pay $400 for something that existed merely to help her safely to the bathroom at night, Kristen DIYed up her own version! Hey there! So, who likes pink? I think pretty much everybody does. Or they should. I’m talking about pink the color, not Pink! the rock star, although I also like her too. If I could pick out a singing voice for myself, I’d choose hers. I would. But that’s not the point. The point is, do you like pink? I hope so, because there are some pinkified makeovers coming atcha’! But first, an impromptu poll!
Ok, after all of that shajazz, we are going to start this off with some purple. Ha ha! I so crazy. Seriously, I might be, I feel a little delirious. I think I have a fever.

Sarah from Renewed Upon a Dream fixed up this dresser for a baby shower gift, (woah, get her on your guest list!) and added the softest little breath of a hint of purple to the insets. I love how IN-YOUR-FACE it isn’t.
Jeff from A Touch of Arkansas built this sweet little end table with his bare hands (well, and some tools, I imagine). He did two coats of pink, two coats of white, and then strategically sanded to uncover the pink. Doesn’t it look great peeking through on the wood grain?
Better After reader Casey shows us that the combination of pink and polka dots can’t be beat. By anything. Ever. But especially not by mud-colored naugahyde. Ha ha, you LOSE naugahyde! (But you are a fun word to say).
Hmmm, I don’t know how this one slipped in here, because it’s not pink in any way, but it sure is girly, so we’re going with it. Amy, AKA The Savvy Stager had owned these chairs for too long and was sick of looking at them. So she did what made obvious sense, faux fur! Topped with sequined pillows! I can totally see these adorning some fashion boutique that I’m not hip enough to shop in. (And totally reminds me of this hilariousness from my favorite comic strip ever, F Minus.)
You know what? This redo doesn’t have any pink in it either, technically. Blame my fever. I’m sick as a dog and still blogging it up for you! That is how much I love you, reader! I might not actually be sick, I think it’s just warm in here. Anyway, there IS a rad pink wall, so it totally counts. From Shannon at Compartment Life. And finally, finishing off with some more, you guessed it, pink! Shelly found this desk and chair for $30 and rehabbed the whole lot. Holy cow, what color was that desk? It’s like … are you old enough to remember when Crayola had a crayon color named “flesh”? Yeah … it’s better now.
I don’t know how so many of you do it, but there are tons of people out there comandeering their closets and making all sorts of other things out of them. Reading nooks, coat rooms, sitting areas, and, like Natalie from Natalme, an office! Right there in the closet! WHERE are you guys putting all your old shoes and spare blankets and outdated college textbooks and boxes of craft projects you will never finish? My house has exactly one closet, not counting the ones in the bedrooms. No freaking fair.
