Best of 2012: April, May, June

Hey friend! I am taking a mini blog-break to spend some time with friends and family, but since you were kind enough to stop by, please enjoy this week’s rundown of some of my very favorite posts of 2012. I CANNOT WAIT to see what all you creative brains come up with in 2013!

In APRIL, I loved how Rita at This (Sorta) Old Life made such a warm, inviting space out of what used to be such a cold, odd room. I’m pretty sure I compared those window valances to mustaches. Lots of environmentally friendly choices in this makeover too.

MAY brought one of the best kitchen makeovers I’d seen in a long time, from Tyrell at A Touch of Tyrell. I could stare at this one all day! Goodbye blue wall of weirdness, hellooo and how ya doin’ kitchen of covetousness.

In JUNE, Samaa at Honey Sweet Home redid this hutch which was already a sleek and sexy shape to begin with. But the extra bit of sparkle and shine really glammed it up into a timeless showpiece. Literally makes me catch my breath. I should interact with people more, probably.

Best of 2012: January, Febuary, March

Hey friend! I hope your holidays have been as magical as possible and that you are still recovering in a happy haze of eggnog and jammies. I am taking a mini blog-break to spend some time with friends and family, but since you were kind enough to stop by, I didn’t want to leave your eyeballs hanging. Ew. You know what I mean.

So please enjoy this week’s rundown of some of my very favorite posts of 2012. I CANNOT WAIT to see what all you creative brains come up with in 2013!

JANUARY brought us one of Better After’s most frequently pinned posts on Pinterest: the bunk-bed wall from Nikki from Grand Design Co. Six beds total! She’s a genius, but I already knew that.

In FEBUARY, my favorite project had to be this bathroom makeover by Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating. She designed it top-to-bottom for her mom’s house, and you truly can see all the thought and effort and love that went into it.

MARCH was a tough month to choose from, but I couldn’t resist this little kid kitchen made from an old country hutch by Kate at Kate’s Creative Space. Again, it’s all the detail that makes it so special. It doesn’t hurt that it’s now a toy you’d gladly display in your home, rather than hide in a closet, which is where I keep my kid’s florescent plastic kitchen monstrosity.

Santa Baby

Merry Christmas Eve! Or, if that ain’t your thang, Happy December 24th! I’ll be signing off for a bit to enjoy the holidays with my family; but not without leaving your eyeballs some before and after holiday goodness first.

This cute little sleigh was built by Tracy’s dad years ago. She displayed on the front porch every Christmas, stuffed with presents or evergreens. One year, she noticed it was looking pretty shabby, and not the chic kind. So she gave it a thin coat of black paint that let the old red shine through a tad, and painted on Santa’s crest. Very Dickinsonian! See more on Tracy’s blog General Splendour.

Hmm, what could this pile of cruddy old wood possibly become? How about a rustic frame for a vintage Santa print? Fa-la-la-la Fabulous! And, if you happen to have a pile of cruddy old wood yourself, not to mention a chop saw, you can make one to. Step by step instructions from Lindsey at Lindsay and Drew.

Blue on the Fly

Well, my inlaws are about 30 seconds away from arriving, and I haven’t wrapped a single present, and I’m hosting a party for about 40 people at my house tonight, so I’m going to sign off for now and simply leave you with this blue beauty from Debbie at Painted Therapy.

And a fabulous blue two-toned table from DeeDee at Our Clover House. Just loving this blue/natural wood combo. Hope you do too!

Nice set of knobs you got there.

Danielle at Shades Of Serenity wanted to girlify this delicate little yard-sale find, but didn’t want the whole thing screaming “WOO, I’M PINK!” She also wanted a little fun, but didn’t want it in “HEAD-TO-TOE ZEBRA PRINT Y’ALL!”

So she added little pink here, and a little zebra print there, and since the awesome lion pulls wouldn’t coexist peacefully with zebra print, she replaced them with a sparkling set of knobs to top it off. I think it’s just downright adorable.

Double Down Desks

Hi again! I am still not feeling so awesome, and it’s freezing here, and I’ve discovered that I don’t own any comfy pants longer than knee length. You should really see what I’m wearing right now. Basically anything I could scrounge off
the floor that would keep me warm; this includes pink sparkly leg
warmers and two of Matt’s dress socks that don’t match. Try not to be
jealous.

Instead, let’s be jealous of the two desk makeovers coming your way, because they are pretty cute. I think it’s so funny that Kirsten’s before desk kind of resembles June’s after desk! You’ll see.

First Kirsten added a little stenciled whimsy to this two-color desk of damagedness at Made For A King.

Then, June from Coffee Under The Umbrella, also had a desk to makeover, and ended up with a teal and white two-tone. She wasn’t messing around with this makeover, check out her blog to see step-by-step instructions on how she recreated a missing leg. Because you never know when you might need this information!
