From a Yellow Bellow to Cream and Dreamy

From a Yellow Bellow to Cream and Dreamy

Look.  Fans of yellow.  We need to have a talk.  Apparently, painting a room yellow is a way bad idea. Look at some facts I just learned according to a psychological study on the effect of colors:

– Yellow can create feelings of frustration and anger. While it is considered a cheerful color, people are more likely to lose their tempers in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms.

– Yellow is the most fatiguing to the eye due to the high amount of light that is reflected. Using yellow as a background on paper or computer monitors can lead to eyestrain or vision loss in extreme cases.

That’s why this overly yellow kitchen had to go.  Well, that and the fact that it was outright hideous.  The talented duo of Ali and Brian at BK Wenger Properties had a go at it, making it beautiful, traditional, and unlikely to cause anyone to fly into a yellow-induced temper rage.

I don’t even understand how this is the same room.  But Brian and Ali seem like pretty nice people, so we’ll take their word for it.  Hey, you want to read something funny? Check out some these people’s comments about how they react to the color yellow.  I think the one about the teacher’s yellow shirt is my favorite.  Enjoy.

I love yellow. I can’t believe a color could make anyone physically ill. I think something is wrong with you if that is the case. Theakeover is beautiful!

Love yellow – creamy, sunshiny beautiful yellow! The gray color trend that is so very popular right now is the one that makes me want to scream. If you work in an institution with gray walls, you DO NOT want to come home to the same coloration. I really don’t understand why people paint their kitchen, their lovely hub of the home, a shade of gray. For me personally, it is such a depressing color – whether it has a purple tint, a green tint or just plain gray. Of course, with everyone loving so many different colors, the paint companies are over the moon!!

Well, given all that you’ve just taught me about yellow, I am now super glad that I couldn’t find yellow fabric that I like ANYWHERE to use as my accent color in my living room! I am already grouchy enough, I don’t need yellow induced anger as well!:) I love the kitchen!

The last shot of the “before” kitchen reminds me of the Archie Bunker kitchen!

Are you kidding? I love the “before” version. Maybe use a lighter, calmer yellow, but I’d take it in a minute. 🙂
