Chest Pains

Chest Pains

Kathryn had big visions for this chest, visions that didn’t include the strange swirly things snaking up the sides. But, try as she might, she couldn’t budge them an inch.  “Just make them into flames,” her husband urged.  Pssh, silly boys, what do they know?  Then it hit her.  Make them into FLAMES!  Yes! Brilliant!

Now everyone wins.  Her son got a super cool fire-fighter themed toy box, she got the satisfaction of a job well done, and yes, her husband gets the credit for the idea.  You won’t want to miss what she put on the inside, take a look on her blog The Junk in our Trunks.

Deb also had her hands full with a chest in dire need of a makeover. This one had been in the family since way back when Grandma was a teenager and was starting to show its age.  Deb gave it a quick pick-me-up with a fresh coat of paint and stain and poly, then topped it off with a sentimental touch: a hand-painted stamp bearing the family name.  Granny would be proud! And probably want it back!

I have that second trunk. It’s a Lane my sister received from a family friend. She thought it was ugly and it had a stain mark on the top where someone had set a plant for a long time. She told me, “take it”, and I did. Bribed my brother with a little moola and he refinished it beautifully. Guess who wishes she had the trunk now!?! Both of these look fantastic!!

The fire-themed chest is AWESOME!! Kathryn did a really good job accentuating the flames. And I think The Junk in our Trunks is my new favorite name for a deco blog. How did she paint that beautiful image on the inside with the firefighters?

I thank you once again for making me LOL! 🙂
The finish on the top of the second trunk is beautiful. Love it. The first one for the little is so cute. Love the Fire Dept. flames.
