If I told you I was going to paint my dresser a reddish, pinkish shade of orange, you would probably try to talk me out of it. It doesn’t sound delightful at all. But if I told you I was going to paint my dresser coral, well then, there would be high-fives all over the place. It’s all in the name. Probably why salmon has never been named color of the year. Hmmm, I wonder what the color of the year will be next year. We should all guess and have a betting pool and see who wins!
Anyway, back to coral. Here are a couple makeovers incorporating coral, from just a tiny swatch of it here, as seen on these chair legs from Rebecca at Do-Over Designs:
To the whole enchilada here! Megan at Make Bake & Love painted this $100 Craigslist dresser with Youthful Coral from Behr, which sounds just about perfect, since this is going in her daughter’s nursery. She polished up the original hardware with Brasso, then switched out the ring pulls for a girlier set of knobs from Hobby Lobby, and I want to high-five the whole thing. Great job ladies!

August 13, 2013 at 4:32 PMLove the coral-dipped chairs–looking so demure! Can’t you just see Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Jefferson perched in one of those at one of those original meetings in Annapolis? Great job, Rebecca! And the dresser is simply fantastic! What a beautiful piece for Megan’s daughter to grow up with! Bravo to both artists!

August 14, 2013 at 4:42 AMI saw mongooses in St. Kitts last year. The ones I saw there were kind of a golden color – a little like the sofa in the background of the first picture, but lighter. It was hard to get a good picture of them because they were so shy. The monkeys on the other hand…
