Welcome To Chunky Island

Are you feeling the urge to hop on the painted kitchen cabinet train, but don’t want to end up in Just  Like Everyone Else Town?  Don’t worry!  There’s a stop on this ride for you too.  Here’s a fresh color scheme from Stephanie at Room *6, who chose Dovetail Gray by Sherwin Williams for her cabinets and Grass Cloth by Behr for her walls.

Check out her blog for an up-close look at her island makeover too. I’m loving that new chunky base around the bottom. It makes the island look more like an item of furniture that actually belongs there, rather than something that just sprouted out of the kitchen floor, like they usually do.  Builders, siiigh.

Beautiful! Love the grey. I have particle board cabinets (mobile home) and they are beat up from 25 years worth of living. Would love to paint, but have gotten toooooo old to even think about it.

That looks like it was a lot of work but so worth every second of it. Bright and fresh and lovely. And I love the rug too.
