Cutting Edge Stencils Giveaway! (GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED)

 Jan 4, 2013

** GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED **

Hey friends, I've got a great giveaway lined up for you today: $50 towards any stencil of your choice at from Cutting Edge Stencils!

If you think stencils aren't for you, think again pardner, because they've got something for every style. Everything from graceful damask to funky and tribal, geometric, floral, you name it. Plus they recently added a ton of new stencils designs that I'd love to get my hands on, like the herringbone design below.

I love the rug stenciling idea, so I thought I'd give it a shot when they sent me the Entwined Allover Stencil to try.

Before, you can see my living room is a bit ... blah.  I know.  Be kind.  I'm still trying to make friends with color.  I'm taking baby steps with gold.

So I picked up some metallic gold spray paint at Michael's, hauled my rug out to the garage, and spent the day in 20 minute increments, taping off the stencil, spraying it, waiting for it to dry, and doing it again.

I could have used a spray adhesive to stick the stencil firmly to the rug, but I didn't know if that would leave some kind of residue, so I simply weighed it down with little rocks and various items from the garage.  Matt is thrilled that his socket wrenches are now gold.

And here we are today! I think it turned out nicely. The only bummer was that gold spray paint doesn't really look very gold on fabric. More like a bronzy brown.  Boo.  But the stencil held up like a champ, and worked like a charm, and will be passed along to my sister who wants to do the same thing on her rug!  (It's the IKEA Erslev, if you're curious, the rug of choice for rug-painters all over the blogosphere! Bonus, it's the same texture on the other side, so if I want, I can flip it over to the plain side, and now it's like two rugs in one!)

Do you have an area of your home that would look snazzified with some stenciling?  Give it a try! And no need to worry if stenciling seems scary, step-by-step instructions are available 24 hours a day on the Cutting Edge Stencils YouTube channel.

Enter to win $50 toward any stencil of your choice now!

Entering is easy, simply leave a comment here.

Optional extra entries include:

Good luck, I hope you win!

You did a lovely job. I'm on my way to Ikea for the Erslev!

Your rug looks great. I would love to win this stencil product!

I would try to stencil my living room.

Emily Nevill January 5, 2013 at 5:42 PM

There are a lot of beautiful stencils there! I think I might pick Zamira and use it for a rug--I need something to cover the ratty carpet in the living room of my rented apartment!

Kathe January 5, 2013 at 5:59 PM

I'd try the Entwined stencil you used on a new rug for my craft room.

I'd like the Lily Scroll Allover Stencil.

I love how your rug turned out and I also think your neutral room is fantastic! (I love neutrals!)

I guess I'd pick a stencil something similar to yours ;-)

Sandy January 5, 2013 at 6:20 PM

So many to choose! I really like Dandelion and Poppy Field.

Riah January 5, 2013 at 6:21 PM

I like the Zamira stencil!

Georgia January 5, 2013 at 6:35 PM

Oh tough to decide...I think Poppy...but we will have to see....I do know I would be doing the walls of my powder room for sure!!!

I love stencils and masks, but these are taking it all 3 steps forward! And the Moroccan ones are so cool!

I love how your rug turned out! Nicely done!

Anything geometric and Moroccan

Thanks for posting about this!! I had no idea this company existed, and their prices are very reasonable! I'd choose the houndstooth all over stencil! Very cool! Thanks again! :)

Sandy B.,  January 5, 2013 at 7:09 PM

Love the stencils! I'd like to do a rug or perhaps a bathroom wall.

Lynn W January 5, 2013 at 7:12 PM

Totally would pick the Outside of the Box stencil and would use it on a rug like you did.

Danielle @ shadesofserenity.blogspot.com January 5, 2013 at 7:14 PM

I love it! I've been eyeing some of their Moroccan inspired stencils!

Lisa O. January 5, 2013 at 7:16 PM

Wow, each one is prettier than the next, but I think I would choose Casablanca all-over for my bathroom wall. Would love to win!

RMullins January 5, 2013 at 7:30 PM

I'd have to say it's a toss-up between the Chevron and Herringbone Stencil.

Junque Male January 5, 2013 at 7:38 PM

That rug never seemed like a solution to me until I saw yours stencilled. I'm thinking that a stencilled rug would be a great way to soften the huge wall of a staircase!

Sally January 5, 2013 at 7:51 PM

Love the damask stencils :)

I've been following your blog for a few months now and finally decided to comment. I love the gold accents in your living-room, so much so that I am now considering it for my apartment!
I love the Zamira all-over stencil, and would love to use it for an accent wall in my bathroom. The rug looks awesome!
