Avocado to Bravado!
Jul 6, 2012
I just love the classic KitchenAid, don't you? It has such a timeless shape. Would you believe Christine's before KitchenAid is actually 100 years old? Ok, so it's not that old. But it IS old. It was a hand-me-down, in avocado green no less, which is not such a timeless color.
So Christine went straight to work with some painters tape and a few coats of Krylon and put a new twist on an old fave. I can say from experience that this is a great way to update a KitchenAid, as I have done this myself. Yay for me! Mine was red and now it is oil-rubbed-bronze, and it looks so pretty. (I could actually prove this to you if I had remembered to take pictures.) Holds up great too. I recommend it! I also recommend checking out Christine's blog The Crafty Woman to see more.

Does it make me wrong to like the avocado one better? I love green!
I like them both!!! The green was pretty and the new color looks good too :)
I do think she did a great job on the new version though! :)
Fantastic idea girls! I have a black one and so I think I would need to prime it, but I would love it in a blue! I may just have to try this!
I would have never thought to do that
what a great idea!

Hmm...from one 60's color to another. Not sure I would pick this color (it must match her kitchen I assume) but she did a nice job on it.
I would have never thought to paint a small appliance. Good for her! And I'd love to see your in the oil-rubbed bronze. We don't need a before pic--we all know what red looks like. ;)
Love this idea!
Would love to see your KitchenAid in bronze, too!
I like both. Good for her. We women can change anything! :)
i'm with the others, the before version is not a horrible colour, but the new one looks nice too! anyone else have problems with spray paint sticking to metal??
There's nothing that makes blue more "timeless" than avocado. Why paint over a retro color with another retro color? I don't think she improved upon the original.
Beautiful and how clever. Now it looks just like mine!
I had NO IDEA you could do this. Mine is bright orange (sale sale sale.
I like the blue but the green is not what I would call "avacado"....lol It would go better in my house. I am from the era when "avacado green" was really popular. My parents thought it was the best....and then came "harvest gold" lol
