Shudder Island

 Jun 14, 2012

Woah.  I think my brain just threw up.  This kitchen was absolutely painful! That light!  The wallpaper! And what the everloving heck is going on with that shutter situation on the island?

This room was definitely first on the to-do list when Lauren and her fiance bought this 1968 "fixer-upper."  I might have called it a "tearer-downer" but they weren't scared, and managed to turn it into an absolutely breathtaking beauty.  They paid for this renovation by auctioning off those original antique appliances.  Ha ha, I'm kidding. But seriously, they probably could have.

See lots more on Lauren's blog Home on Garden Ct.

I think the little desk nook is my favorite part!

Ok, so, I kinda didn't believe this was the same house (basically called you a liar in my head) so I went over to check it out. Soooo pretty. Thanks for posting this one. You always have the best stuff!

Wow... fabulous makeover/resuce! I love that window over the kitchen sink and the chair at the nook is yum. I checked out all of her before & after's and they have done so much work! Would love to see the exterior too! Another great find. :)

I knew the shutters were very popular in the 50s and 60s e.g. I Love Lucy's kitchen so I kind of liked it, just not that wood coloring but the new kitchen looks great.

Ok I admit. I cried. I mean I REALLY cried! If you take a peek at MY kitchen on my blog renovatingonashoestring.blogspot.com.au then you will see why I cried. My dream kitchen is just like THAT kitchen! Man, I am so green I put Kermit to shame. What a FANTASTIC makeover they did!. Ok, tissues filled up the rubbish bin, now going to shake the guy who is helping me renovate and say, SEE! That is how it's done! .....going back to having a little sob....so beautiful......so pretty....so airy......sob.....

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with a harvest gold dishwasher matched with a coppertone stove?

No, seriously, fantastic makeover. Isn't it funny how white appliances, even if they're forty years old, still look OK. I wonder if stainless steel and black will become the new avocado...but I digress.
