Feeling Off-ul

Feeling Off-ul

I am having an ‘off’ week.

You ever have those?

Perhaps you thought you were going to come here and see some before-and-after action, or a giveaway, because it’s Friday and I like to do that for you on Fridays, but NOPE!  I have failed you!

It’s just that I was going to do this neato fabric spray-paint giveaway for you, but so far, it is not going as planned.  I had finally found a cool chair to paint, you know, to show you how the stuff works, only to discover that the chair has been heavily peed upon by an animal of some kind, for what I guesstimated to be 10 years or more.  No amount of anything can fix that.  So that’s going to have to wait.

Then, a while back, the super cool girls at Girls With Good Taste held a giveaway, and the grand prize was a fun-filled day of thrifty shopping and lunch, and they invited me along!  We coordinated our schedules and planned it for yesterday, and I was SO EXCITED! Then my daughter got really sick and I spent the day cleaning up puke instead.  That ranks right up there with the time in fourth grade when I got sick on the day the zoo-mobile came to school.

THEN, I grew a coldsore on my face the size of Texas.

THEN, my husband got robbed at work today.

THEN I read this plea for help for orphans in Pleven, Bulgaria, and my heart just broke. I put my head down on my keyboard and cried and cried.  And then I felt very selfish, because all my “problems” seemed pretty darn trivial.

THEN I wrote this bummer of a post, and felt bad about THAT!  Sorry to be such a bummer. Things will be back on track next week, I’m sure of it!  But thanks for letting me whine a little.  I feel better. And my daughter is better. And my husband is fine. And I donated to the orphans.  And maybe you could click that link to see if you could help a little bit too.

And now I am leaving you with a funny picture of a goat:

Have a great weekend friends.

  1. April 13, 2012 / 10:28 PM

What a crap week you poor soul. Don’t feel bad. Funnily enough I was feeling the same a while back and then a documentary came on TV about the forgotten orphans of Bulgaria and I cried my bloody eyes out ALL day! It was horrendous what those beautiful kids went through, and unfortunately some still do.
We are very lucky aren’t we? It’ll be a good week for you next week I’m sure of it, as I am sure that the stupid sod who stole from your husband has some bad ass karma coming his way 🙂 x

  2. April 13, 2012 / 11:06 PM

Hope you/your daughter/your husband feel better! I was having one of those weeks and I fixed it by hitting up the clearance Easter candy. Chocolate cures almost anything.

  3. April 14, 2012 / 12:22 AM

I had one of those days too. Cold sore included. Only mine look more like the pacific islands because they are tiny and all over my lip. I hope that you get felling better.

  4. April 14, 2012 / 12:24 AM

well, i totally know what you mean when you are feeling down. you just can’t help it! thanks for keeping it real…and i hope you have a great weekend! (ps, i read your blog daily, although you would never know because i’ve never commented until now. love your site!)

  5. April 14, 2012 / 12:45 AM

You are seriously hilarious even on your worst days. You are a good mom for staying home with your daughter.

  6. April 14, 2012 / 12:45 AM

So sorry you’re going thru all this stuff! And in one day!! Just remember, THIS (and that, and that, and that) WILL PASS!

  7. April 14, 2012 / 1:09 AM

When it rains, it pours! You could try to think of it like this… you got it all over with at once. The only thing I could suggest is what I like to do sometimes – get in the car, turn up the music really loud and scream at the top of your lungs! You’d be AMAZED at how much better you’ll feel. The neighbors might stare, but you can just smile and wave.

  8. April 14, 2012 / 1:23 AM

So sorry you had a bad day! It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who gets cold sores as icing on the bad day cake! 🙂 Here’s to a brighter week! (I’m heading in to our master bedroom to tear our some carpet for our redo…I’m dog tired from work…but somehow I’m finding the energy to do that!)
Thanks for your blog, I love it!

I’m sorry you had a rough week – I love your blog and stop by daily to check it out if that makes you feel any better. Probably not, but its all I got.

AND I am going to adobpt the term “stupid sod” for people that annoy me. We are working on cleaning up our language now that my daughter is starting to talk and I love that.

  10. April 14, 2012 / 2:09 AM

That sounds like a bummer of a week. Glad everything is looking up and glad the orphans were there put things into perspective. Wait, that came out wrong…I’m not glad that they’re orphans, that in itself is terrible. You know what I meant, don’t make me explain myself. Anyway, you know what I do when I have a rough day/week? Yeah you do 😉

  11. April 14, 2012 / 2:54 AM

Oh Lindsey, that is a bummer day, for sure! No wonder you’re not feeling your best. Sick kids are never fun, you feel so bad for them 🙁 And OMG on the hubby getting robbed! That would freak me the heck out too. I am sure your having a bad day after that. I’m glad you could vent a little here. We don’t want you to pop keeping it all in.

Try to take it easy and have a nice, relaxing weekend. We will all be here when you get back =)

  12. April 14, 2012 / 2:55 AM

Felt so bad for you… I typed your, when I meant you’re. Oops!

Big hugs to you and I hope by now that everyone is feeling better. I too have had a rotten week including getting a gastro bug on my birthday and still trying to do mum duties with my 5 special needs children/foster children, yet all I wanted to do was sleep and recover. Let us all hope that next week is better for everyone.

  14. April 14, 2012 / 3:47 AM

Awww Lindsey…rough day! Hope everyone is ok. I have a cold sore too–stress–wanna take my next test for me? Have a better weekend.

  15. April 14, 2012 / 3:55 AM

Aw honey 🙁 crappy, crappy week eh? Cute goat though…

Glad you all turned out ok in the end, this next week will be a better one I’m certain

  16. April 14, 2012 / 4:09 AM

This is what I think you should post when you have a bad day…
“I had a bad day..there will be no giveaways today. Deal with it.”

HA! Seriously..who cares about us? It’s like the quote from Monsters, Inc. my kids changed a little bit – Go ahead…go throw up!

Love your blog! Hugs and air kisses..hope you feel better!

  17. April 14, 2012 / 5:38 AM

Whenever we have “one of those weeks” it seems to be followed by one that is wondrous. And, by acknowledging the orphans, I’d say it’s begun. Doing for those who cannot do for themselves, just like taking care of your sick daughter, brings blessings. Good on you, Lindsey!

  18. April 14, 2012 / 6:31 AM

I’m going to whine with you cuz its rainy and I hurt. My pain medicine is not touching the pain and I take enough to kill a horse. Sigh…. Tomorrow my grandson is here we will play and his smile will make me forget abbot pain for a little bit. I’m thank full I’m not cleaning up puke, glad your daughter & hubby are ok. I look forward to next Weeks post….. Have a relaxing weekend

I hope something lovely happens, for you and your family, and the orphans. Days like that I get into my pyjamas at about 4pm, but that can make things worse, as it seems to guarantee that people you haven’t seen for 10 years will drop by unannounced, or somehow you will get locked out of the house because of a pet incident…

  20. April 14, 2012 / 11:55 AM

Next week better be better for you (and your family) or I’m gonna come kick it’s butt!

This post has a lot of importance to the people…I hope you can continue to inspire and post more of this…Thanks Online Training!

  23. April 14, 2012 / 12:28 PM

You need some blog comment love!

I’ve been following since you featured my powder room. I mainly read for your witty opening paragraph. The before and afters are a bonus.

Hope life starts looking up. I mean, it’s nothing a smiling goat can’t fix. Right?

  24. April 14, 2012 / 12:43 PM

I’m sorry you’ve had a bad week. Thanks for sharing your heart today, though…have a GREAT weekend!!

  25. April 14, 2012 / 1:00 PM

Oh my! Bless your heart. You and your family did have a terrible week. And don’t apologize. If you can’t moan to us, your readers, then who should it be? After all, post after post, you cheer us up, entertain, make us grin/smile/laugh out loud at your whit and charm. Hope you have a better weekend and next week turns out better for you! {{{Hugs}}} 🙂

  26. April 14, 2012 / 3:17 PM

So glad everyone’s ok. Thanks for the still funny post. And thanks for being an example of generosity to “the least of these”. Have a fantastic weekend!

  27. April 14, 2012 / 4:12 PM

Seems to be lots of that going around. Had a bad week myself. (And wrote my own whine-fest post!) One of my only bright spots was being featured on your blog–thank you! Hope your weekend is restorative!

  28. April 14, 2012 / 4:12 PM

Oh no!!! I am so happy to hear your all okay…You are such a loving, caring person…a pleasure to know in blog land! You are one of the few that has taken the time to help me when I asked. Thank you so much and I hope to see you next Friday!! I think when you featured me I was so blown away, I forgot to keep posting to your Friday parties!!! Brain cramp! XXOO

  29. April 14, 2012 / 4:13 PM

  30. April 14, 2012 / 7:26 PM

I was having EXACTLY the same kind of week until I read your post and as usual you had me cracking up! I am so sorry as I know that was not your intent and all of those things are horrible. Praying we will all have a better week next week and count our blessings. Lisa

Good grief, lady – that is one awful week indeed! Someone who lives in AZ get this gal a nice glass of wine, and STEP ON IT.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and that things seem “better after!” 🙂

I hope you have a better week!

For all cold sore sufferers please try L-Lysine, 500mg 2xday. I use it and it works wonders! You can get prescription meds, but OTC is less expensive with no side effects. I’ve heard it does not work for some, fortunately it does for me. If you have a ND, check with them if you have any questions as I’m not one, but it was prescribed to me by my ND.

  33. April 14, 2012 / 10:29 PM

What a week! H hope y’all are feeling soon. It is amazing that when we feel our lowest, God reminds us of how blessed we really are…keep smiling, Lori

  34. April 14, 2012 / 11:03 PM

    I feel for you girl!

  35. April 15, 2012 / 2:02 AM

Hell’s bells, woman! Don’t feel bad! You are human like the rest of us and you are entitled to feel shittily crap after a rotten amount of bad stuff happened. You know what? Having a big old sooky cry and whinge is just what the doctor ordered. Apparently those who keep ‘pretending’ all is well get more illnesses and even sometimes cancer! So go right ahead and vent, cry, be sooky. We are all here with you knowing exactly how it feels! You go girl and be happy tomorrow, today is festering on rotten feelings coz you can day! Hugs from Oz!

  36. April 15, 2012 / 2:54 AM

In our house we would paraphrase, “It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week.
Some days are like that, even in Australia.”

Thanks to Judith Viorst, “Alexander and …”

  37. April 15, 2012 / 4:12 AM

Try some Lysine for your cold sore. Then I’d go with Pour Girl’s idea about the Easter clearance chocolate. And please know that all my friends and I are in love with you and your blog. You are funny and inspirational and it looks like lots of people in blogland feel the same way.

Oh, I’m so sorry you had a bad week! It sounds pretty awful to me, if you need a pity-party buddy 🙂

Also, I once bought a chair and later figured out it had been a kitties’ litter box for awhile. Ewww! I ended up de-upholstering it down to the bare frame and using oil-based KILZ on it. It worked, de-stinkified that baby right up. Then I reupholstered it with all new materials and now it’s all better. All that to say, I’ve been there and I feel your frustration. Also, don’t try to use any of those “de-ordorizing” furniture liquids. Waste. Of. Money.

If you wanna visit the chair, she’s a lot friendlier now:

  43. April 15, 2012 / 11:42 PM

Sorry you’re having a bummer of a week. I’m somewhat new to your blog, and am really enjoying all of your posts. Thanks for all of the good work you put into your blog.

  44. April 16, 2012 / 4:46 AM

Oh no, you poor thing! I’m a longtime lurker but this is my first time commenting. Just wanted to reach out and let you know that I think your blog is wonderful. It brings joy to me & to many others.

Karma dictates that things will have to be much better for you soon! 🙂

  47. April 16, 2012 / 8:14 PM

Oh my gosh Linds! We missed you like CRAZY. Mary and Jim were delightful and we found some awesome stuff. The only thing that could have been better would have been YOU as our hood ornament all the way from Phoenix and back.
Hope you’re feeling much better girl!!

When life hands me a crap sandwich, I say “I’m not going to eat this!” (But I will carry it around a bit and complain about it while I search for a trashcan!) Point being, we all need dumping spots! Don’t be concerned about being a bummer. I’m glad that you have a chance to use your awesome blog to be honest and cathartic!
