Iron it Out

Iron it Out
What is your least favorite household chore?  Mine used to be emptying the dishwasher and folding the laundry, but now I have kids old enough to do that for me, BWA HA HA!  They aren’t quite old enough to iron yet, which stinks, because that truly is the worst.  Do you like to iron?  You could come to my house and do it for me!  I will bring you drinks and keep you motivated with morale-boosting cheers in exchange, how bout it?   If not, I guess I could fancy up my ironing board with a lovely little handmade cover like Jackie from Jackie’s Creations and maybe that would help me kindle a love for ironing.  Yeah, not likely.  Pretty darn cute though, huh?

My kids do the laundry and dishes too (and vacuuming and mirrors and trashes and toilets–wheeeee!), but I have to say, I only iron maybe 2-3 times a year max! I think for the most part we a) don’t have a lot of clothes that need ironing, b) pull things right out of the dryer and hang them up so they don’t wrinkle, or c) don’t care that our clothing is wrinkly!

I’m almost sure not even a pretty ironing board could make you love to iron–but at least you’d have a pretty object to look at!:)

Guess I’m just weird, but I kind of like it… I focus on how much nicer things look when the wrinkles are all taken out. I bought an expensive iron that has different steam settings and I put my ironing board where I have a pretty view out a window.

ps I only have to iron for me. I’m sure that makes a big difference, too!

My mom loves to iron. She told me when she was a girl she had a friend that came from a big family. The friend’s mom used to just wash clothes and then dump them on the floor of the laundry room. When the kids wanted clothes they had to go and dig for them. My mom used to go over there and spend hours picking up clothes and ironing for them. It used to make her friend so mad. “You just come over to iron. You never play with me.” hee hee
