Armoire than a Feeling

Before you embark upon whatever glorious plans you have planned for this weekend (I personally will be going to the exotic beaches of Laundry Island, don’t be jealous) first feast your eyes on these colorful armoire makeovers!

First one is from Kim who redid this armoire for a friend’s nursery. It is super cool. I bet that baby girl will hang onto this through teen-dom and beyond. See it on her blog Stacking Up Smith’s.

Next, Faith redid this familiar looking armoire (Faith, did you buy that at Target circa 2005? I used to have the exact same one, yup.) into a crafting cabinet! Check out the interior on her blog Faith of All Crafts.

And last, Shalynn from A Drop in the Bucket was bored with her armoire and couldn’t take it for one more second! So a not-so-mellow yellow paint job did the trick.

I like yellow, but somehow I’ve never successfully incorporated it into my home. I tried once with a little yellow bookend on my nightstand, but it drove me crazy and I finally hid it in a drawer. Maybe I just like to think I like yellow. I like yellow in your house, just not mine.

What about you? Is there a color you like, but it just isn’t you? Have you ever forced yourself to like a color? The world wants to know!

  1. Okay, I’m sorry. The person who redid the first piece of furniture did an absolutely wonderful paint job, but the finished product looks like it jumped out of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. And you’re not alone in the color thing. I like yellows and greens, just not in my house. I have branched out a little and now own one green blouse, but that’s about it!

  2. I’m all for painting furniture but the first one I didn’t really like at all. It was too…Well I just didn’t like it. The other two were great!

  3. I think they all look fantastic. I’m sure some little girl is jumping up and down ecstatic over the pink one. The little girl in me would love to have it in a commercialized “Paris” room.

I think I’m too much of a color whore, to dislike any color.

  4. I wasn’t really wowed by the first one either. I like pink and black together, but I think it’s just a little too much of the pink–not to mention I kind of think pink and black are a little, hmmmmm…hookerish? to put in my baby girl’s bedroom.

I do love the other two though! I feel the same way about a lot of colors. It’s not so much that I don’t like them in my house even. I guess I just don’t know how to put them in my house. (Of course, if I had my OWN house it might be different, apartment living will get you down on your decorating skills.)

  5. REally nice. I like the third one best. But I thought that the pink one was very interesting. I like how she chose to leave some of it natural.

  6. The pink one FLOATS my BOAT! Also, more Diet Coke on my keyboard – armoire than a feeling!

  7. I really liked the second one the best. Very pretty and cottagy.

I would like to submit some re-dos. I tried to email with questions but it would’nt go through.

  8. I did buy that at Target circa 2005. I’m pretty sure half of everyone did.
I LOVE the yellow! That is just beautiful.

  9. hELLO!!! people! PINK LOVES BLACK!!! diggin’ the 1st one!!Kay to go Kim!

  10. I LOVE pink and black, but I’m not diggin’ this… I think a paler pink would have been better.

  11. Well, apparently people didn’t like the pink and black. Did you catch that? Fine, I didn’t love it either.

However, what I got on here to say is…I had to laugh at the last ones “before” picture. As she clearly was mid paint and went “Oh CRAP I forgot to take a before picture.” So, we got to look at primer. Oh well. IF you love yellow that much then it looks great. I can’t make yellow work for me in my house.
