Where’s The Fire?

Tanja’s living room was not lacking style, that’s for sure. But it was lacking a fireplace. Just kidding! It has a fireplace, can’t you see it? There in the corner? That black rectangle thing hiding behind the couch? It’s totally a fireplace.
But after some love from Tanja, it’s a bona fide Focal Point, adding drama and height and color and sha-jazz to the room. Loving the new mirror too, the diamond pattern plays off of the lampshades nicely. Check it out on Tanja’s blog, Postmodern Hostess.

  1. WOW WOW WOW LOVE

  2. That’s great! I loved the room before the redo, but the fireplace really should be the focal point of a room.

    Fabulous!

  3. That is a HUGE improvement for sure. Only thing I’d do different is add a mantle. Sorry, I just can’t do fireplaces without a mantle.

But really…what is the thought process of putting a fireplace in the CORNER of a room? Wierd.

  6. I think the fireplace in the corner is fabulous. Its different, adds a lot of interest and totally transformed the room! Love it!

  7. that is a huge difference. love it!

  8. I have the same problem…thanks for the inspiration!

  9. Thanks so much for the shout-out, and for all the lovely feedback! The corner fireplace was definitely odd to work with, and makes furniture arrangement tricky to say the least! We’re still considering adding a mantle, but the room is so itty bitty that we don’t want to cut into the space any more than necessary.

    Thanks again!

    Tanja

  10. WOW…that’s the kind of DRAMA I like! Major diff! Enjoy!

  11. okay, when I saw the “before” picture I was wondering just exactly what the makeover would look like… and it didn’t disappoint!! Love it, great job :)

  12. I thought it looked great before but the extras really make the room amazing.

  13. It’s a great makeover, but the fireplace is still hiding behind the sofa!

  14. With the before pic I thought it looked great but I didn’t even see it had a fireplace. Then the after picture was like magic..poof a fireplace.
