Pretty Painless

 Aug 2, 2010

This kitchen was probably designed by some sadistic person who enjoyed watching people shield their eyes in pain whenever they entered.

"I'll make the drapes match the wallpaper, then contrast them hideously with the olive green counters and appliances, mwah ha ha haha!"

"Then I'll directly center all the cabinet handles and clap my hands with glee at the resulting confusion over which way to swing them open, tee hee!"

Nikki wasn't having that, so she attacked this grim kitchen with nothing more than cheerful paint choices and artful accessories. It looks so happy and fun! It even makes the olive appliances look all kicky and retro, like that's exactly what she wanted in that space. Great job Nikki! Check more out on her blog fancy*that.

Love that she kept the avacado green as a retro accent, what a great cheerful spot, super redo!

Great job! Just getting rid of all that floral stuff really made a difference. I wonder how the person that did that came up with the "match" of wallpaper to counter top? Wonder what she wears to shop in?>) Diana
