File Cabinet Planter

 Aug 18, 2009

This is an ingenious idea. Chad from BaldManModPad found a file cabinet on Craigslist for $10, turned it on its side and created this cheerful planter. He was inspired after seeing its pricier twin sister ($600!) at a local nursery. This is one of my favorite projects because anyone could easily do it and in so many fun colors too!

This has to be one of the most ingenious ideas I've seen in a LONG time. It's brilliant! Definitely going in my "to do" file!

*gasp* thanks for reposting this - what a BRILLIANT idea!!! we have a bout 3 of those ugly, ugly UGLY filing cabinets in the house. Too heavy to move, really. I might make it into the garden with them, though. Totally love this! Bookmarked!

Incredible, it truly looks like something that would be in Dwell Magazine and that cost hundreds of dollars! So cool!

I love this idea, but I am concerned that it will rust outside. How did your cabinet do outside?
